Olympus Waterproof Camera Repair

I use this to hold my waterproof Olympus Tough TG-2 while kayaking. Everybody who sees it marvels at the uncomplicated and easy to use design, which allows solid hands-free filming but also drops the camera face down at pull of a tab to turn video on/off, check images, or frame a still, zoom, etc. I tell them it is just as great as it looks. Feels totally comfortable and secure, fits smoothly overtop of my life jacket with good range of adjustment, gives me needed access with no fuss detaching from screw mount to hand camera to others. My one suggestion for improvement: make screw mount bolt from stainless, rustproof materials. Very hard to clean out all water after a day of action, and grease or oil don't mix with my camera or other apparel. Overall I would say this rig beats GoPro hands down, and others who see me using it agree. (I did try GoPro system first, sent it back). This one is a keeper!

I wanted a simple, nice-looking, responsive, waterproof bag for carrying just a camera with a lens attached. There needed to be room for a spare SD card, battery and lens cloth. In my case the camera and lens in question is an Olympus OM-5 (they are all the same size) and Olympus 12-40mm f2.8. This fits perfectly with room for pretty much nothing else - and that's what I had in mind. I'm not sure Think Tank is still making these but they are good.

I bought a Filson waterproof bag so I could take my Olympus camera with me in the canoe. I needed to add padding to the bag to protect the gear; and give it a fitted resting place. The foam insert for a Pelican 1400 waterproof box fit perfectly and did the job.

I recently had a kayak race in mid-Missouri and wanted to take my waterproof Olympus camera, I charged the battery overnight and tried it the next day. Only to find that the battery wouldn't hold a charge! This model (850SW) has been replaced by newer models so the battery isn't one that you can go to a big box store and pick one up (although those stores did carry take model at one time). Two years ago I purchased a set of Fujinon 12x28 binoculars. I loved them but really wanted more power for whale watching (Hawaii) so purchased a 16x28 pair last year. They were even better than the 12x28s; an ounce or two heavier but well worth that as the extra magnification was great, image was just as sharp, they were light and compact for travel and they were really steady to hold. I was originally concerned that the higher magnification might give me a narrower field of view but have not noticed that. Unfortunately I dropped my 16x28s (could have avoided that if I had used the neck strap that came with them) and did some internal damage which was going to require them to be shipped to Japan for repair. I originally only had two criticisms of both my pairs of Fujinons: they weren't waterproof and they had no objective lens cover. When I learned that this year's models are waterproof, I decided it was worth it to purchase a new pair for use on a boat or in the rain rather than pay to repair the old ones. Still no objective lens cover but everything else is great and they are so much lighter than any of the other options that I have seen.
