I had a MacBook Pro from 2007 that was mainly used for creating/recording music and DJ gigs. That computer was a workhorse that just began to slow down over the last couple years. I decided to go with the Mac Mini this time around as it is portable enough to carry around while being priced well below a new laptop. I couldn’t be happier. I use this for photography and design work. It's an upgrade from my 2007 Macbook Pro which was connected to my Eizo monitor. The Mac Pro is a huge improvement. I took out the 3 GB of RAM and put in 24. Also added two 1 TB Barracudas. Will be upgrading to CS5.5, but even with CS3, Photoshop is really fast. And now Aperture actually works. It's very quiet. You just hear a kind of hum which I guess are the fans. I love all the ports that are available on this machine. The connectivity on the laptop left much to be desired. Will still have to get a laptop for traveling, but it's so much more convenient to have a desktop again for day-to-day work. 5 |
