Where it exceeds Photoshop: Individual masks on each smart object layers. Photoshop has only one mask for all the smart object layers of a smart object. Where is it falling behind Photoshop: Select Subjects Erase and Add Options in Linear and Radial masks in Raw editor Intersect, subtract, select subject masks options in raw editor

Im a film editor and Assistant editor and find myself often temping in color for preliminary cuts of things. Having a broadcast accurate color monitor with full image controls is really helpful. I have found that monitors designed for computers or for gaming don't have the specific color controls that have been standardized for my kind of work. And that they insist on burying their interface controls in software menus rather than being physical buttons and knobs on the device. Maybe this is just a pet peeve for me but the tactile controls just feel more intuitive to me and I always feel like I'm wasting mental energy trying to figure out navigating software menus that have controls in a series of nested tabs. At the same time most broadcast monitors are prohibitively expensive. This monitor is a great middle ground. It works well, the image is great and the controls are geared directly to my needs.

Everyone has heard of Photoshop but Lightroom, maybe not. Lightroom is by far the best photo editing software out there. Take some courses online and you'll quickly see it's power. It's not super great for organizing however, I use Adobe Bridge for that.

I was skeptical on this product for editing photos in Photoshop, but after a few quick tutorials online, I cannot live without it! It makes editing so much more precise, and it's much more fun. The tablet is very responsive and customizable and a great value. The small version is perfect for my desk size at home. It will now travel with me when I do any editing on the go! Must have for all photographers.

I am not a professional image manipulator and am unwilling to pay Adobe every month for Photoshop. Great program that suits my needs at a very reasonable price. Thank you B & H.

Now that I'm up on the usage learning curve it's doing just what I was looking for (a tad slower process that I was hoping for but nice quality). I do Photoshop stuff but not any pro/semi-pro image processing so it took a bit (one day of playing with just a single slide) to figure out all the buttons. A newbie step-by-step procedure/example with ample screen shots would have helped, I expect. Initial plumbing sequence of powering up/restarting computer/ finding drivers wasn't exactly as described but eventually everybody found everybody. I do just two things now: Create a presentation jpg directly from SilverFast and create an archive file at 1/4 optical resolution (except for real important slides). I bring the archive file into Photoshop to create a useful hi-res image that's larger than the presentation format (3Mb vs 300Kb) using Photoshop tools I'm familiar with. More time with SilverFast will change that, I expect. This is not for anyone wanting to spend a weekend to digitize up a lifetime's worth of slides/film, though.

Expensive but very robust and high performance as RAID 0, I use it for backup and also for image treatment on Photoshop. So far I am really happy with Glyph.
