I'm using this drive with my Macbook 6,1 with Mountain Lion and a 250GB hard drive. The primary use of the Elements drive is to use Time Machine to backup the Macbook which only has USB 2.0 so I can't comment on the USB 3.0 speed. But I have no complaints with the read/write speed being on USB 2.0. I formatted the drive into 2 500GB partitions - 1 for Time Machine and 1 for General. So far, the drive has performed to expectations. It has a great compact form factor. My only little concern is the connection between the hard drive and the provided cable in terms of durability. It seems that if you are not careful the connector can easily bend or break. So I make sure that I disconnect the cable when not is use or transporting the drive. To me, it's not a big deal since I usual baby my gadgets. Overall, very good external hard drive. Highly recommend. 5 |
