Optical Cable For Tv Soundbar

I wanted to get a soundbar for a TV that I inherited. Space was a consideration. This LG SK1 is just right at a good price. Note that it comes with cable for optical hookup so you don't need to buy one separate (I didn't see this in the description, so I now have an extra optical cable).

Love that TV , but I wished it had an Optical connection for my Soundbar.

This adapter worked perfectly to connect my tv, which only had an optical output, to the soundbar.

I received my SRS-NS7 from B&H about a week ago and was totally hooked on it within an hour of starting to use it. However I want to offer some strong advice to those who plan to use one of these while watching TV alongside other viewers. My wife and I normally sit about 12 ft from our TV monitor and typically sit close enough that we rub shoulders. We have a Sonos soundbar under the monitor, with surround sound speakers at each end of our loveseat. I wear hearing aids but Patty does not. The optical output of the TV goes to a splitter with one output going to the soundbar and the other going to the Bluetooth transmitter for the SRS-NS7. With the arrangement described above, we both heard sound from the soundbar and the NS7, and there was enough latency difference to irritate us both. I have a technical background and had anticipated such a latency effect, but had no knowledge of the actual delays with either device. I spoke with an audio expert at B&H, asking for advice about a variable delay device that has optical input(s) and output(s). He could not recommend such a device that is currently available from B&H but did suggest a Felston DD740 that B&H used to carry. I looked up the characteristics of the DD740 and agreed that it seemed to be exactly what I needed. I purchased one from LipFix.com, after talking with their Nick Johnson. It arrived yesterday. After connecting my new DD740 in series with the optical input to the Bluetooth transmitter of the SRS-NS7 and experimenting with the delay, I found that a delay of 55mS yields NO perceptible latency effects that interfere with either what Patty and I hear while watching TV. The bottom line: We both enjoy hearing REALLY EXCELLENT sound, including very clear dialogue, while watching TV together AND I get the benefit of superb sound while editing videos etc. with the SRS-NS7 connected to the Bluetooth of my computer systems. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am really enjoying the LG S60T Soundbar. The soundbar and the subwoofer were both packaged very securely. Was a very easy set up right out of the box. Connected the soundbar to my TV via Optical Cord as my TV does not have the Bluetooth option. I really like how the subwoofer is wireless which allows me to move it anywhere in my living room for optimal sound when watching tv or especially a movie. The sound quality is great and the difference between the soundbar and my TV speakers is quite noticeable. The remote to control the soundbar is not too bulky, but also not small and easy to lose or see/press the buttons like most other sound bars. It's also very well labelled and organized as it pertains to volume, mute, source, mode, etc. The only issue I have had with the sound bar is it loses connection sometimes if the TV sits idle for a while. In order to fix, I had to unplug the Optical cord, and plug it back in in order to get it to reconnect. Has happened twice so far, but not a deal breaker. Overall, I think the quality of the soundbar was well worth the purchase.

Once I got it working, I love the sound it generates. I was told I could install with the HDMI cord provided but couldn't get it to work. Once I installed the digital optical cable, wallah, it worked. I had trouble with my last sound bar disconnecting from my tv. I thought it was the optical cable and was looking forward to connecting this new equipment with the HDMI cable. Unfortunately, I couldn't get it to work with my Vizio tv, even though Vizio customer service said it would work. Hope I do not have disconnect problems with this particular equipment.

About 6 months ago, I purchased a sound bar for my TV, but found it would not work with the HDMI cable, but only the optical connection. After some reading, I found that the HDMI cable had to have ethernet. The improvement with the new cable is more than I expected. The sound stays at a reasonable level and does not require constant adjustment. The unit turns on and off with the cable remote, so I could retire the TV and soundbar controls. I am delighted to have these improvements at a minimal cost.

I never knew what a soundbar before. When I decided to upgrade the sound system of my TV, I read plenty of online reviews on how to purchase a soundbar without breaking the bank. Finally chose this product after many considerations. The set up was so easy and the sound was great. I would recommend to use HDML arc cable (which was not included) instead the cable came with the package. This soundbar is great for entry level of setup of your home theater system.

Facing a dilemma: What to do with my soundbar that was no longer needed for my tv? With this particular cable I was able to repurpose my soundbar and connect it my desktop computer. This resulted in a profound upgrade to my computer's audio. Thanks B&H!!! I couldn't have done it without you.

I purchased this cable to use to hook up my Samsung TV and soundbar. Quality was excellent, the cable well made. I had the cable within 3 days. Another outstanding product from B&H.
