If your Fireface dies, this will fix it - most likely. No instructions supplied, but fairly obvious once opened. To open the unit: 8 screws on top, 4 screws on bottom sides - no need to do the four screws on bottom front attaching the face to the frame, 2 screws on each rack ear. Inside, 4 screws and washers attaching power supply to frame, 2 plugs on power supply. Should take about 15 minutes to do. Take care with the small screws that can strip easily - find a small pointy Phillips driver and apply good downward force to keep the blade in the screw until it breaks loose. I found that my Swiss Army knife driver worked pretty well. 5 |

The product is used mostly for storing digital photos and scans of film photography (very large files). It appears to work very well. My only problem with it is the fact that the power supply is not incorporated with the USB cable thereby eliminating the need for a separate power supply and cord. Some competitive external hard drives are designed this way. Good value for the purchase price. 5 |
