Owc Solid State Drive For Macbook Pro

This is my second WD 1 TB drive, and I use them to both store and backup photos from my MacBook Pro (with solid-state storage). Even with lots of RAW files, the transfer rate seems fast. It is small, and easily stored when not in use. There is nothing about this drive that I would change.

Solid state drive worth it.

Been using this drive for almost a year now. Initially was difficult to setup as Raid 1, but after a 30 minute phone call, OWC tech support helped me switch it to Raid 1. It's kind of a manual process and if I was to buy another I'd likely need to be walked through it again. Nice that it has usb C to USB A, allows me to use this on my 2014 iMac. Works great with my 2021 M1 Pro MacBook Pro. Export speeds from a Lightroom catalogue saved on the OWC drive with about 4,000 raw photos in the catalogue is fast. I don't do any direct editing off the drive as I use smart preview catalogues on my M1 Pro MacBook so I can't speak to that. But it writes the exported jpegs very quickly to both of its drives when exporting Jpegs from Lightroom's. I didn't want to over pay on drives and I felt like this was a good value and sounds compromise. Would buy again if this one is still in working order in a few years.

This is my first MACBook. It is expensive and can not be upgraded after purchase - two big bummers. But it works flawlessly and has all the speed I was hoping for. I use it to create giant panoramas in Photoshop, starting with as many as 15 exposures. What took as much as 15 minutes to process now takes a few seconds. I have a lot of PSB files, gigantic. They save in less than a minute rather than 20. At home, I operate it clam shell style. I had no problem hooking the MACBook up to larger, calibrated screens, though I had to buy a boatload of converters. One way I could have saved money would have been to have purchased a much smaller solid state drive; maybe one TB. No solid state drive is big enough to hold all my photos. So, purchasing a conventional, inexpensive peripheral drive was necessary anyway. A harddrive that is configured for both PCs and MACS turned out to be the best way to go; though now I have about 3TB of unused solid state drive on the MACBook, a waste of money.

This enables you to take advantage of the new SSD's fast speed and reliability. It comes with four mounting screws so that you can mount your SSD (sold separately).

This is just what the doctor ordered to accompany my new Mac Pro. It is not as fast as a solid state drive but more than adequate for editing HD or storing video files. I also have a bunch of RAW photos on there as well that are easily and quickly editable in Lightroom.

I used this drive to clone a laptop hard drive to a solid state drive. Worked well.

I got a Crucial SSD drive for my newly acquired Mac Pro. The OWC Drive Sled made it quick and simple to install the SSD.
