Pelican Air 1635 Underwater Camera And Dome

Bought this for my underwater camera gear and it is terrific. Holds, housing, dome port, 2 strobes, camera, 3 lenses, arms and diffusers without problem, AND it's flight legal. Excellent quality as well. Great purchase for underwater photographers.

I set up an Ikelite housing, compact dome port, strobe and two arms over an EOS R6 Mark II and RF 14-35 this morning. Then I slipped this 11 pound rig into the Travel Duffel 35L with room to spare. After the rig is pressure-checked overnight, we'll take it to the dive shop for its first underwater tests. The bag is perfect for that. Or for taking a set up underwater rig from the hotel to the shuttle. It's the perfect tool for the job.

Add this fisheye to a 10cm dome port and that's it! The image quality is amazing and you don't get that tunnel vision effect you have when using SLRs with fish eyes and minidome ports due do the image distortion associated with the dome. Whith this lens and the 10cm dome you get one of the best superwide-angle you can dream of for underwater photography. The minimum focus distance is about 0cm from the dome, so you can get as close as you can. The only draw back is that it won't be so easy to take over-under shots with small-moderate sized waves, as it would be with a 20cm dome, you will have to be more patient. On the oher hand you gain reach and manouverability in tight places. If I would use it only for dry photography, I'd test the fisheye manual lenses from kenko/samyang/bower, and, if the IQ matched I'd get one of these instead. My final word is, this lens coupled with a 10cm (4,33 inches) is one of the cheapest and best sets for underwater wide-angle photography in the market.

I utilize this lens in an underwater housing behind a 230mm dome port for fantastic fisheye images of reefs, big animals and above/below water.

The underwater housing dome port has a focal length of 12 inches, whereas the canon lens is 14 inches. I use the product to allow the camera to focus on the dome virtual image providing much crisper images.

I use my Pelican Case to hold and transport the underwater housing for my Panasonic Lumix camera. I feel as though the contents of the case are completely protected.

Like the specifications said, the dome simply slides onto the Ikelite port. Easy to use and of course great that it is a wet lens as it gives more flexibility. Best to add a bit of silicone gel on the rubber rim on the inside of the dome to make taking on/off an easier affair. There are two air-holes on the dome but not all air bubbles escape this way so it was a bit of a pain to open it, let the bubbles out and put it back on again. It may seem like a small matter as it only takes 30 seconds at the beginning of the dive to adjust this but if it is a whale shark dive then the 30 seconds feel way too long! You will also need to zoom in with the camera just a little to get rid of the dome sticking out at the sides but even with the zoom-in, it is still very wide. Corners are crisp and my pictures have been great. All in all, a great product, highly recommended.

I own over 90 Pelican cases for my business and 5 of the 1535 Air cases for various camera/audio sets. I couldn't say enough about Pelican and the quality of their products. Best of the best.

I purchased this as a carry on for my UW camera gear. It holds almost as much as my Pelican air roll on. I can get my NA A7 MK 4 housing, 1 port and 3 lenses in the bag plus a bit of miscellaneous. I could not imagine a better quality bag. I never review gear, this bag is worth it.

I needed a reasonably priced case for my video camera. The Pelican 1605 Air was just the right size and price. I like the case. There are a lot of latches (5 of them) to open and close, but that's OK. You press a little button on the latch to release it. The button is a little small and recessed. You have to carefully push in each one to release the latch. But it works fine. The Air cases are not as heavy duty as the regular Pelican cases, but they work very well at protecting the equipment. I'm happy with my purchase. I got 2 of these in different colors. I like having the option of difference colors so I can identify the case and which camera is in it.
