Photography Iso Settings

Photography is a hobby for me. I live on Lake Erie in Ohio and most of my shots for years have been shooting sunsets, using my Nikon D-610. We have a growing bald eagle population and capturing shots in flight required teaching myself some new skills and better understanding all of the camera settings. Using a 600mm Zoom in low light conditions requires higher ISO levels and I simply can't tolerate a lot of grain. So the primary reasons that I purchased the D-850 was for better resolution at higher ISO levels, and the large image size for cropping. Until I experienced shooting the D-850, I had no idea how much faster and better the focus would be. It's outstanding. This camera has a myriad of settings options for every aspect of your shots and performs precisely based on your camera settings. If you're like me, a hobbyist, do yourself a favor and don't hesitate to make the upgrade. It's your life, you owe to yourself. If you're a professional, I don't feel qualified to advise you.

Camera is amazing. It is light and takes very good photos. I have been using the Nikon D800 so this camera is much lighter then the D800 and the ISO is rated much higher on the Z6 which is one of the reasons why I acquired this camera. It is as if it sees in the dark and it does so with little to no noise even at high ISO settings. The camera does take a little getting familiar with the settings and controls however if you are using a Nikon now you will be able to pick it up quickly. The FTZ adapter works great on all my Nikkor lens and on all by one Sigma (150 2.8 macro) which will not allow for auto focus...otherwise all other lens work with any restrictions. My only complaint so far with this camera is the auto focus. It is good in well lit conditions however in dim and low contrast areas it is a bit slow and will spend time looking for its target. Battery life is not as good as a DSLR however it is not all that bad. I can actually use my current Nikon batteries as well and that was also a plus...although I am told that I can not charge the battery in camera with the old batteries and only with the new battery but I have not tired it and honestly I never would personally. I am supper happy with about this camera. I only wish the auto focus was a bit better but I can see myself using this camera more then others for many shoots. I just do not think that for me it is good enough for my only camera. Give it a few more years and I am sure the mirror-less cameras will completely pass the performance of the DSLR models but for now they both have their ups and downs.

The addition of the Ring to add to the Custom Settings is very useful. I use it for changing the ISO. Very convenient.

Works as described and is a must for night time photography and other settings...

This camera gets a bad rap due to excessive noise at hi ISO settings. However, I'll bet the people that complain about it aren't using the DPP software that came with the camera or the beta profiles from Adobe labs when using Adobe Camera Raw. This camera is ALMOST as clean as my 5D and WAY better than the D30 it's replacing.

I use it for ordinary life photos for standard ISO settings. It is relatively cheap but decent film that contains Kodak color.

It has Sony’s legendary tracking, an innovative 61MP sensor with decent high-ISO performance, and a complex but nicely thought out array of settings. It can even store and load settings to and from the card in slot 1; how cool is that?!? I’m finally getting used to it and I like it better and better as time goes on.

I love the auto and the ability to set my own settings, when I learn more about photography.

I’m D800 shooter, and was looking for something small but thoughtful designed for street photography, and this hit that mark perfectly. The images are sharp with deep blacks and well controlled highlights. ISO performance is very good for its size, plus the vibration reduction is excellent which help shoot at low shutter speeds on lower ISO. It shoots 14bit RAW, and the f2.8 lens is excellent. Best feature of them all is the SNAP mode which allows you to set focus distance, like you would with SLR lenses. Works perfectly for those quick snaps without waiting for autofocus. This is a well thought out camera designed specifically the street shooter. And it works. I take mine everywhere i go. Go get one!
