This little camera is almost a duplicate of the one that it replaced - all the controls are conveniently placed the same way. But this one takes better photos.

The quality of the photos taken on the Nikon D850 is outstanding. I was concerned that moving up to a professional camera with all the bells and whistles would be overwhelming but have found that the menus and controls are easy to use. Yes, there is a learning curve, but the controls and menus are straight forward. I was concerned about the weight but have found that the camera is comfortable in my hand and nicely balanced. I can even use a long (600mm) lens as a hand held if needed; the camera offsets what I always thought of as the front heavy feel of that lens. There are so many good choices for quality cameras right now. I spent a lot time time trying to decide between this model and the Nikon D6ii mirrorless. I don't think you can go wrong with either one but I am very happy with what I got.

Looks beautiful. Surprising how digital photos look like print photos on it. Has an app with extensive controls. The remote is solar powered (need to put bottom up), which is nice.

I'm totally new to DSLR photography, and this has been a phenomenal camera so far. Love the photos it takes and the controls are intuitive, even for a newbie like me--would recommend this camera to anyone. I bought it specifically to take family photos, meaning lots of indoor shooting with low light. So far it's done the job admirably, couldn't ask for more. Bought it after exhaustive research vs Nikon D5000 and Canon Rebels. Extremely pleased with value for money. On the lens, no complaints, it creates crisp results through a comfortable range of focal lengths. Combined with the camera's low light ability, it manages to capture excellent images without the need for a flash, most of the time.

In the past, I have used Nikon vertical battery grips on D300, D700, and D800E primarily to access the increased capacity of EN-EL18 batteries and to improve the ergonomics of shooting vertical photos. However I had never used an L-bracket on my cameras and found myself limiting my vertical shots to hand held without shifting my fingers to use the controls on the grip. I rarely used my tripod for vertical photos because of problems with positioning and balance. With the high resolution of my D850, I decided to add a Manfrotto Q2 L-bracket and MB-D18 for stable vertical shots on a tripod. I assigned ISO to the grip function button, turned shutter focus off to use the AE/AF button on the grip for back button focusing, and use the grip selector button for selecting focus point. Now the grip in vertical position works just like the horizontal controls. Now I love using the full features of the MB-D18 with a tripod to realize the full potential of the D850. Great results!

This strip mask along with the softbox is very versatile! I use it for product photos. Controls the amount of edge lighting perfectly.

I am an amateur and I'm pleased with the sharpness of this camera's photos. The controls are well laid out and well explained, so I believe I can learn more about photography. I highly recommend this camera for new users!
