Placing Foam Behind Home Studio Monitors

I absolutely love my new stands. I was placing my monitors on my studio table. I need more room and wanted my home studio to feel more “official”. Immediately noticed a difference in the sound that was coming out of my speakers. Definitely an improvement!!! Easy to set up!! Definitely a must have!! 5 |

Purchased these Foam Earpads to replace the old ones on our Williams Sound HED 026 Behind-the-Neck Mono Headphones. These were easy to install, a prefect fit, and restored comfort to our headphones. B&H was great as always and their price was right. 5 |

Currently I use the Auray pads in my home studio to support my Yamaha HS80m's. Previously I had my monitors sitting on top of a normal piece of foam. I added one of the Auray's at a time and could immediately tell the difference between the one with the isolation pad as compared to the normal foam. It dramatically reduce vibrations in the the desk. So the product works as advertised. Not listed but should be mentioned is the foam thickness. The narrow edge of the foam is 1 3/4 thick and tappers up to 2 3/4 thick. So far this product has met my expectations and I would not hesitate to order another pair. 5 |

I use this bag to hold my home studio lights and supports. Its roomy enough to hold three supports and umbrellas. the foam at the ends help to stop damage so I can store them on end. 5 |

I bought this windscreen upon recommendation from a voiceover engineer (I do VO in my home studio). He’d replaced his Sennheiser 416’s foam windscreen with the Rycote and is very happy with it. When I saw how much they want for an official Sennheiser windscreen vs. the Rycote, I decided to give it a try. Because the Rycote foam is denser than Sennheiser’s, I expected there to be a dramatic sound difference. Instead, there is a subtle difference, which is a slight reduction in the upper-mids. Since the 416 is known for being a little too bright for some people, adding the Rycote was an improvement, in my opinion. It knocks down my sibilance nicely, and doesn’t affect the tonality of the mic too much. A bit, to be sure, but not so much that it ruins the signature character of the 416. I then put my old windscreen on to compare it with the Rycote, and I prefer the sound of the Rycote. Your experience may differ, of course. I place my 416 about 8 inches away from my mouth. So, I can’t comment on how this windscreen would affect the sound in an “on-camera boom” type of situation. All I know is, for my VO home studio, I’m very happy. 5 |

I was first introduced to Adam monitors at my previous production position by the head audio engineer. I knew when it came time to upgrade my home studio, Adam monitors were at the top of my short list. I debated on whether getting the Adam A5X models with a subwoofer or just a pair of the A7X. Because my home studio is small with untreated walls I opted in favor of a pair of A7X and no subwoofer. Absolutely no regrets. These things sound so amazing! Plenty of low end. This is one of the single best investments I've ever made for editing HD video. How good are they? My old monitors will soon be listed for sale. 5 |
