I already had a set of these rear controllers that I used on an HMC150 and my newer PX270, but recently I got a DVX200 and so I needed another set. Depending on the camera, you can get a perfectly smooth very slow zoom. The Panasonic 270 allows me a smoother slow zoom than the DVX200. Not sure why that is. The only downside of this setup is it is easy to bump the focus knob with a stray hand which causes the focus to go radically out of focus, so be careful! Also, if the iris knob is set to the closed position, if you plug in the LANC connectors while recording, the iris will close down until you manually open it back up. I made that mistake on a wedding once. 5 |
