Of course it’s outrageous that Leitz gives its cameras slightly different size hot shoes, forcing you to buy specific viewfinders and/or thumb rests for each camera. But what is is, and so the Thumbs Up I bought for my M10 doesn’t fit the Q2 - and I had to buy another Thumbs Up, because, well, the Thumbs Up makes shooting with both cameras far more comfortable and natural. The black paint starts to wear off the Thumbs Up almost immediately, so beware if you’re silly enough to be bothered by such things. The flip side, of course, is that these gizmos are solid brass, so what some might see as undesirable paint wear, others will welcome as...BRASSING.

The Match Technical Thumbs Up fits my camera perfectly and makes it infinitely easier to grip with one hand. I use them on all of my cameras.

This Thumbs Up has a special coating for Q-P and it just perfectly fit on my newly bought Q-P. Can’t regret to have this I have been using Thumbs Up on my other Leica camera.

I used a Leica thumb grip for two weeks and then decided to try the Thumbs Up. The Thumbs Up EP-CL for Leica CL is much more comfortable. It has a slight indent for the pad of your thumb and a slight twist and bevel that fits the side of your thumb. You can see both fairly well in the photo of the product above. The Leica is slightly longer and puts your hand into a more awkward posture. The end of the Leica thumb rest also feels remarkably less comfortable. If you are looking for a better grip on your Leica CL I would definitely recommend the Thumbs Up over the Leica brand. You also wont feel as badly used by Leica which has the nerve to charge 40% more for this short piece of metal.

THUMBS UP SO FAR ! Aside from being 40-lbs lighter and nearly 1/6-the size which takes up considerably less storage space and making it extremely portable, the 2013 update is extremely quiet and shown to be snappy in overall performance with only half the memory ( 16 vs 32-Gb ) as my older 2012 model ; the dual AMD graphics card packing 6-Gb versus older unit makes a big difference running graphics Apps such as Photoshop & SketchUp modeling. I had been holding off purchase of newer MacPro given rumors Apple might be releasing an update after 3-years, which proved to be false. To top it off, it seems to be running fine with latest OS X ( Sierra ) even after migrating information from my older Mac.

The Match Technical EP-LQ2 Thumbs Up Grip is an excellent addition to the Leica Q2 - it greatly improves the camera's ergonomics and gives you a much more stable and safe grip. The materials, construction, fit and finish are all first class. I highly recommend the EP-LQ2. It is an excellent accessory for the Q2 and is significantly less costly than the Leica made thumb grip.
