Police Helicopter Flashing White Light

This is a very nice headlamp, without two levels of white light, a red light and a flashing red light.  Having the battery pack on the back makes it much easier to balance and the straps are adjustable over a wide range.

Bright white light is very bright. Red/red-flashing light is cool -- not sure if I'll ever use it. Good fit and balance (with batteries in back). Lightweight and comfortable. Looks suitably geeky. Very happy with my purchase.

but it is unsettling to have the upstream light flashing

Brighter than I expected on high white mode. We must cycle through all 5 modes, but white has 3, than red (flashing red is included). I hand hold it to cross the street so people can see me and I don't hit the curb. Also helps to avoid puddles in the street and toys in the driveway! AA convenience is King!!

If I have a video scene that needs an emergency police or ambulance light effect, this is handy.

I love this light. Perfect for police patrol. Clips to my uniform and stays put.

Light weight and very secure. We have two of these handles on our smartphone cage and use them to shoot out of a helicopter with comfort and securely holding large phone.

After using inexpensive led lights clipped on the brim of my hat for nightly farm chores as well as for doing preflights on the helicopter I fly, I finally decided I needed a light I could easily aim as well as adjust the brightness. I looked at Petzl lights and others but failed to find anyting that really stood out. When I got the email ad from SureFire for the St. Minimus, my curiosity was piqued. I own a SureFire A2L which is a great light. The St. Minimus is made in much the same fashion, with a machined aluminum body that will aim up or down infinitely as well as adjust brightness from very dim to extremely bright. You can read the numbers in the spec sheet but the light is bright enough for me to use when carting horse manure from the barn, up the trail, into the woods where we store it. I can turn it up and see details several hundred feet away - well enough to avoid the occasional skunk or deer. When preflighting the helicopter, it keeps both my hands free to open cowlings or hold onto hand holds while peering into compartments. The light goes where I point my head. It really makes checking out a transmission compartment on top of a Bell 412 or an EC 135 a lot easier. I am still not completely sold on the CR-123A batteries. I wish I had the capability of using rechargeable NiMH batteries. If I had gone with the Minimus with the larger battery pack, that would have been an option. But the added weight and harnessing were not things I wanted. So far, the battery life with the 123 seems to be pretty good but I will have to use the light longer to really know. If you want a bombproof, versatile, functional headlamp that should last as long as you want to use a headlamp, the St. Minimus sure looks like it is at the head of the pack. It's not cheap. But like most things SureFire, it is beautifully made and thoughtfully executed.

Purchased this light for video scenes. I've shot several scenes involving the appearance of an ambulance and a police car and the results are very realistic. I only wish that the police mode would allow the ability to flash only blue lights instead of blue and red lights. In this city the police flash only blue lights. Mounting is not an issue and it is a vey bright light. Solidly made and should be able to withstand what I throw at it.

This remote can control up to 12 lights. I can change from a direct light to a storm, or fireworks, police lights and more, without having to move or touch the Nanlite. Thanks B&H!
