We've been using this in the church for 4 mos.it is dead quiet, no pop when you unplug instrument cable and easy to use. We had the 2nd generation 1402VLZ2 using it for 17 yrs with no problem and lost it. So without thinking twice we replace it with this new 4th generation 1402VLZ4. 5 |

Got these from BH Photo Video primarily for instrument stereo instrument miking; especially drums, so I use it for just that, and these mics gave me a wow the first time I used it. Excellent stereo imaging when used as drum overheads. I noticed a clean/clear, almost flat sounding response! no annoying frequency hype to my ears. They're small, light, compact and powerful. I should mention that the included mic clips are rugged, pretty much the best clips I've ever had/used. The included pop screens aren't as effective on reducing vocal 'plosives' as well as conventional pop filters that hook up to the mic stands. But this is not your extra versatile multi-polar pattern microphone as it is fixed Cardioid. There is also no built in Pad/attenuation. But generally, for what it is, and what it was made for, its an excellent choice- buy it! 5 |

I must admit, the first time I unboxed the instrument, I was amazed at the build quality. It has some heft, the keys are properly and ergonomically placed and you know Akai really took their time to perfect this wind controller. But as a long time saxophone player, the first time I actually played some scales, I was quite disappointed - it didn't feel like a saxophone. I was beginning to regret my purchase and thought about exchanging it for the WX5. So I gave it a few more days. Days turned to weeks, and I am beginning to appreciate this instrument. Keep practicing those scales, breathing with the mouthpiece and you realize how this is such an amazing wind controller. I made a mistake thinking that this is a replacement for a saxophone in an apartment situation. In reality, you should think about how this instrument can be an extension to your musical endeavors. The possibilities you can do with the sounds and playability are endless. There are a few usable synths prebuilt, but I suggest using the Akai EWI 5000 Editor to really play and edit your sounds then save it to the user bank. Also there are synths out there that can be used if you plug the EWI as just a midi wind controller; unfortunately you can't upload other synth sounds into the controller. Definitely give it some time to get used to the instrument especially moving from one octave to another. Keep practicing and you'll appreciate that there's hardly any moving parts here. I was opposed at it first since horns have that tactile and key feedback. But with the touch sensitivity, it really felt I was playing an instrument from the future. Again, you just have to get used to it - think about when mobile phones shift from physical keyboards to the modern phones we have today. And here I am today still keeping my purchase and writing a review. I thank Akai for making a top-notch wind controller and continuing the support for the modern electronic wind musician. 5 |

We use it weekly. They don't pop or pick up wind noise like a lapel mic. 5 |

I recently recorded some video narration, using a Schoeps MK 41 only a few inches away from my mouth. I tried several different wind and pop screens, including the regular B 5 and the W 20. The B 5 D gave the best protection against noise on 5 |

I bought this pop filter after seeing a review from George Whittam from Edge Studios. Previously I used a pop filter from Voice Over Essentials but found that it wouldn't stay in position and was always obstructing my view of the copy I was trying to read. My first use for this pop filter on my Sennheiser MKH416 was a real pleasure. I took off the wind screen and added The Hook which helped both my ability for mic placement and removed some of the defect being added by the wind screen. 5 |
