Portable Tv Monitor Receiver Crt Composite Color

I bought this to interface my laptop with and older TV, but I use it mainly to record movies from my satellite receiver (HDMI out). It gives me consistently good quality (within the limits of composite). The composite output of my receiver, by contrast, is prone to color fluctuations. Oh, and with the older TV, it performed equally well.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This thing worked flawlessly to hook up to an old CRT monitor. This little adapter is pretty cool and no setup whatsoever. I’ve heard of people using it for projectors with the same style plug and for their gaming pc’s etc.

Well the old CRT TV finally gave up the ghost, and we entered the flat screen world with the Samsung. Wow! I can read the scores again, but those talking heads were much more attractive when I could not see their face pores. And the thing weighs less than 10 pounds (versus almost 40 for the CRT) and cost less than $200 (Black Friday sale). Keep in mind that my rating is not that of an experienced or knowledgeable flat screen viewer. It was easy to set up and well see if it last 30 years like the Sylvania.

I have a Modem, Router, LAN Switch, CRT TV, HDTV, 14 gaming consoles, and a VCR hooked up on this. It has been amazing at both consolidating space & allowing me to keep everything plugged in. No issues when turning on devices, especially after having issues with a previous power strip. Strip has a reset with 15 Amp circuit breaker. My apartment was built in 1924, so it's been helpful with the bad elwctricity. *I didn't utilize the mount bracket.

Since I got my recent computer in 2013, I've been trying to get an output to my TV using the normal composite output, which the video card sadly doesn't have. (Although S-Video is an option for my TV as well, it sometimes doesn't detect it properly.) After having tried 3 other VGA to composite scan converters, I thought I would try this Gefen scaler and use the HDMI output on my video card. And it seems I made the right choice at last! While the previous scan converters suffered with a somewhat stuttery PAL output, the Gefen scaler isn't really all that bad at it. It is a little bit stuttery here and there, but nothing to get in a fuss about. When I watched a TV show using it, it wasn't noticeable at all. The image quality is pretty fine, and like it promised, it gives you a choice of resolutions. You'd probably want to stick to about 1024 768 pixels to read stuff from your computer, or otherwise it gets too tiny for your television. I tried both the S-Video and composite outputs, and they were both very good. I also tried it with my XBOX 360, and it worked fine with that too. The underscan setting is just right for my TV, if you want to get the whole image on your screen without anything cropped. It was nice to see that the power supply works from 100 to 240 V, and it also came with a set of Australian style pins, which I was happy to use! (It also had USA, British and possibly European ones too.) The metal case seems rugged and the screw in style HDMI plug is a good idea to keep it from being pulled out. All in all, it seems very well made, and it looks pretty nice as well.

Finally a good converter ! Was really surprised by the quality on my old composite signal upscaled to my TV set via the HDMI port.

I am very pleased with this portable monitor. I use it as an extra monitor for various computers, and as a portable TV to set up connected to a small cable box. It is good for both uses. The only thing I wish for in the latter use would be for external volume control. Volume has to be set via the built in menus, but they are easy to navigate and the fact that I can use this as a small HD television with cable box is just a bonus.

Using this to duplicate HDMI out of a computer and into a monitor and TV. No lag, color, or quality issues that I can identify with the naked eye.
