I've been getting more interested in Macro work and found one of my limitations is getting close enough to the ground to shoot small flowers and insects. This Manfrotto MT055 Carbon Fiber Tripod lets me do that. It's a very sturdy tripod. Far more so than my other tripods. The flip out leg locks work stiffly but they give great assurance that the will hold your equipment without failure. The legs splay out to just inches from the ground. The center post is great because it easily pops up and rotates 45 degrees to be parallel to the ground. I find this very useful. I know that extending that post out fully makes the setup feel a little unsteady, especially if your camera and lens have any significant weight to them. I bring it back half way and there's no problem. The XPO Ball Head that came in the lit is great. It operates smoothly, locks into a position quickly and holds that position very well. The Quick Release System let's me place my camera in and tighten the arca-type base to hold the camera. Releasing it involves losening the slightly then pushing a button the release the camera. Is you don't change the locking know, installing the camera the next time is a matter of pushing it on until you here the audible click. Tighten firmly and you're done! The levers and knobs on the ball head are large enough to operate even with gloves on and if you have something that the levers hit or interfere with, you can reposition the lever's orientation. The tripod and head are a little on the heavy side even with the carbon fiber. I could see it getting a little weighty on a long hike but I think I would put up with the weight for the sturdiness. 5 |

Substantial tripod with well-designed leg locks. I use it primarily for field photography in a macro setting. The center post can be shortened so that the camera attached to the tripod on a ball head sits under 18 inches above the ground but extends up above my head without using the center post extension. In addition, metal spikes easily replace the rubber caps on the legs. A fine piece of equipment, even if a bit heavy. Will easily weight bear a heavy lens on a DSLR. 5 |

Stable and strong. The head has two locking screws, one to ensure the threaded post of the monopod does not loosen and the second locks the attached head so that it does not loosen. I use this for bird photography wwith a Canon R5 with a 400mm 2.8 lens and feel very comfortable with it. I strongly recommend this over more expensive monopods 5 |

This is the third D&S tripod I have bought. Sure the locks are a bit tough and you do need to be careful with the teeth on the center post but all else is terrific. These are a much better price that the M.... I bought that needs to be loosened and then manually lifted. I really like the smooth crank lift on the D&S model. The dolly wheels are great too but you had better keep them clean! 5 |

Picked up the 11-24 at the Post Office; took few shots of the steering wheel; and drove right into the Talkeetna mountains. Having used fisheyes for year I thought I would know what to do with an 11mm rectilinear...but this lens is different. My instant favorite lens for off-trail Alaska landscapes. Image quality and sharpness are excellent. Distortion is very low. Makes incredible panoramas that don't look stretched out. Heavy...but it's also a 20, 17, 14,13 and 12mm! Once in my hands weight doesn't matter! Use the 11mm most but love the zoom! 5 |

It looks very good in our room. It just works. They provide 4 keys that work with both locks. It doesn't need any maintenance and is dead silent. However, it does take a couple of hours to get to the set humidity. Not a big deal. 5 |

It's got the right amount of allen keys for all your needs. The size 3 is the most commonly used one on my camera. You just push back the key until it locks against a plastic wedge and off you go. 5 |

While the US Post Office took an extra week and an half to deliver this, the item arrived and it works very well. Easy to set up and works as advertised. It's light weight means you should handle carefully, I imagine. Also, since the transmitter has no power switch (it only powers when pressing the trigger) you should do what I do and remove the batteries when it's in the bag to prevent running them down. In all, definitely worth the price. 5 |
