I'm using 4x Powermate for astrophotography with an E0N 72mm. The first things that I noticed was the high quality of the optics and the manufacture of the barlow. It is important tho say that I had to use several extension tubes to reach the focus point. 5 |

Not sure why some say it doesn’t work well. It does dim stars, but darkens the background sky to bring out nebulosity. This is my first Celestron product, and it works as it’s supposed to. I hardly think Celestron would put out a piece of junk. I tested the 2” UHC/LPR filter on my AR127, using a 5x Powermate and 40mm and 25mm Plossls to view M42 (Orion nebula). It brought out very noticeably more nebulosity even through a thin veil of cloudy haze a few nights ago. I live 30 miles east of Los Angeles in a light-polluted suburb. Orion was high in the sky and I could barely make out the belt of the constellation. I put the filter on my diagonal (telescope end), and really magnified the image with the Powermate. The high magnification blurred the stars somewhat, but I was interested in seeing the nebula. Actually, the filter is for use with my DLSR (Canon T3) and Canon HD camcorder for EAA (electronically-assisted astronomy). I haven’t been able to use the filter for EAA yet, but the view should be better through a camera sensor than by sight directly. This is because the effects of the narrowband, light pollution reducer filter will be able to allow me to use camera settings that were made ineffective by the light pollution (e.g. at ISO 3200 or 6400). The quality at this price earns 5 stars from me. Those with unrealistic expectations should go look through various filters before making a purchase. This can be done with friends who have filters or at stargazing parties. I didn’t expect a wow-factor with this filter, but was very pleased with its result so far. Thanks, B&H! 5 |

I received this a few days ago for viewing planets, particularly Saturn and Jupiter, though my Celestron C8 cassegrain. I have several 2-inch Tele Vue eyepices (up to 16 mm) as well as a 6.5mm and 9.0mm Baader Morpheus eyepieces for greater magnification. The Powermate used with the 20mm Nagler Type 2 and the 16mm Nagler Type 2 provided greater clarity and easier viewing than the Baader eyepieces. Views were sharp to the edge of the field. I was impressed. I'm thinking of replacing the Baaders with another shorter focal length Tele Vue with which to use with the Powermate for even greater clear, sharp magnifications on nights of good seeing. The Powermate is more expensive than a barlow, but the quality of magnification with really good eyepieces is worth the money. I'm not parting with this--ever! 5 |

The Televue 2 2X Powermate is a well-built item, as expected for Televue. Compared to a standard barlow, the Powermate delivers better off-axis correction, making it more suitable for imaging. For visual use, the Powermate pretty much disappears and the observer just enjoys the greater magnification. 5 |

I used the Tele Vue 2x Powermate to image the planets, as well as doing some visual observing. As usual, Tele Vue optics never disappoint! Highly recommend this great addition to your eyepiece line up! 5 |

Spacewalk views using TV 85. Great contrast on open clusters that just gets better when the powermate 2x then 4x are added. Sky gets blacker and stars remain pinpoint to the edge. 5 |

I use the 4X Powermate with my Celestron SCT 14 for Astrophotography of planets. I captured Jupiter, Mars, and the Moon (sections) with impressive clarity. I recommend purchasing the matched T-Adapter sold separately for use with your DSLR. I use this in conjunction with my Nikon D800 and the results are stunning. Good sharpness and detail with good magnification. Highly recommended. 5 |
