Presonus Eris E5 Active Studio Monitor Review

2024-06-16 06:31:20

I have a pair of Presonus Eris e5 XT monitors, which are on a slightly bigger side and these stands work just fine. I use them with the higher riser option and at the steepest angle and they feel stable. Note that some assembly is required, everything comes tightly packaged in a box and you do have to study the manual for a few minutes to understand all the possible configurations and then connect the parts, screw them in place, attach the pads, but you should be done in less than half an hour.

I bought these to use with PreSonus Eris E8 speakers. They are a perfect fit. The fact that it's a single pad makes it easy for me to change the angle of the speakers if I want to get back from the desk and listen in the room. These speakers are really loud with a lot of low end. I have them sitting on top of a wooden desk. There is absolutely NO bass frequency transfer that I can detect!

I recently upgraded from PreSonus Eris E3.5 speakers to some KRK Classic 5's to use with my Audient EVO 4 interface and noticed some annoying static after the upgrade. I'm using EWI balanced TRS cables from Audiopile, which have always been high-quality and reliable for me, so that wasn't the issue. After some Googling, this is apparently a common issue with USB interfaces. Long story short, finally pulled the trigger on the iDefender+ and am glad I did. Even though having to buy yet another piece to the setup is a bummer, it did exactly what it claims. Since my USB ports are a bit cramped, I got a braided right-angle USB-C cable from Amazon and the fitment is great. That paired with an iPhone power adapter works perfectly. If you have static/noise with a USB interface, this is exactly what you need.

I have had the Presonus Audiobox 44 VSL for since March of 2012, and honestly, I had never really turned it off, because it had no off switch. The Audiobox finally starting going out, so I did research and got this PreSonus Studio 24c, and it has been doing an excellent job so far! I use it with Garage Band and my sons use it to do there music for YouTube. I also produce music using PreSonus and it does not disappoint. All of my music on my youtube page was produced using PreSonus AudioBox, and this Studio 24c is vibing just as good, if not better than the AudioBox. I needed a monitor controller for my studio for two pairs of speakers and a couple of inputs. As much as some of the functionality of active monitor controllers appeals to me, the sound quality is first and foremost. And we all know that unless you spend $3k - $10k most active systems severely color your sound - a little more than my current budget. I wasn't sure what to expect with this affordable passive controller however, after spending a few weeks with it I can say without a doubt that it is a great addition to my studio. I hear no coloration or change to the stereo sound field. The Mute, Dim, and Mono sum functions are really handy. And the build quality feels good under your hand. My only complaint is that it would be nice if the knob travel was detented for repeatable levels. Two Big Thumbs Up!

If you have any sort of studio monitors, you really ought to have isolation pads. I have Eris E5s and these fit perfectly. They provide a very noticeable difference in response, clarity. Auralex may have the big name, but the MoPads I received were sloppily made, the fronts were different dimensions, badges crooked. I am much happier with these. Although they function the same, these are better looking than two mismatched pads under each monitor, and they dont leave a bunch of foam dust like the Auralex pads. Functionally equivalent (much cleaner sound than on the desk), but less cost, and better quality.

I use the stand to hold my Presonus StudioLive 16.4.2 in my home studio and it works great.

We use them with our E5 ear buds and a Sennheiser in-ear monitor system. These units are preferred by my band and vocal team for their superior fit.

I have a 24 track Studio Live, an eight track Firestudio and I have added this 2 input Presonus unit for traveling with a laptop. Great unit and it interfaces with all presonus stuff.

I purchased this in 2022 for a new music studio. It is a great compact 16x4 channel audio mixer. Includes 4 stereo input channels as well as 2 internal effects buss. While it is no longer in production by PreSonus, nor directly supported, you can still get current up to date software and drivers and applications from PreSonus, technical support discussions via email and plenty of user discussions and templates on how to use it. Fully automated, it can be augmented with the free PreSonus Capture & Universal Control software to connect from a computer hands free in Windows & even set up as the default Windows Audio device. Mac users also! Although my review is August 2024, it is still my only digital mixer in the studio. I would suggest buying any protection offered by B&H. This mixer has both a Firewire and a USB specific model, so make sure you understand the interface if you will be using this with a computer. There are plenty YouTube videos on many topics regarding this device. There is even training software offered from many vendors that cover the mixer functionality in great depth. PreSonus has many videos on functionality with its DAW software Studio One. Here's a great video: (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=edeXxmRZ0rU) A fantastic way to mix live as well as digital software music from a computer. XLR inputs, +48v power for Condenser mics, 1/4 and RCA audio inputs, Talkback, Main outputs, Aux (4 ch buss) outputs and software Buss functionality thru Universal Control. This product comes with some application software after registration. Mine came with Studio One Artist - check their web site after registration.
