i'm a professional who started with minolta 30 years ago, went to nikon through the f-5 film days and then to canon to the mark series and then to nikon through the d4. sony is the next generation and the future to me. mirrorless is pretty fantastic. there is a learning curve in using this little, tiny, itty bitty shrimp of a camera and it's also tricky remembering all the options in powerful tools. it works perfectly when you are sitting and moving at a normal pace, if you are chasing a news event or reacting to different fast moving situations, you better be well versed with the tools. it's just around the corner when this sony system will be the standard and everyone else will have to come up to them. the focusing on this camera is stinking amazing. and all the fabulous features in the a7s and on are all available in this baby beast! it's a good intro to the world of sony.

This kit gives a small professional company like my the tools to create professional images. My small production company, Molten Minds Productions, on the Big Island of Hawaii, has no options for rentals outside of shipping from Honolulu on O'ahu. So, having a versitle reliable lighting kit is a must. The only thing missing is a comprehensive gel pack which I had to piece together sepparate, and it all comes in one huge roller case which makes it heavy and cumbersome over uneven terrain.

This setup has given me the tools to capture professional quality interviews and audio for social media posts as well as provide quality and durable protection for when I need to pack up and travel. The cables provided allow for a quick setup and flexible use with audio recorders and the Rode mic has a great dynamic range. The mic resonates well in the mid and high register which gives a clear and true-tone to voices being captured.

First off, there's a review with 1 start saying ( Not for professional use ) - I think that's an irresponsible opinion, without any room for subjectiveness. Since the definition of a professional really is nothing more than someone who is being paid for their work, you can't just say not for professional use, when there are many types of looks in demand by clients looking for exactly what these produce. I'd say these are definitely lenses for professionals in the right situation. Quick mentiontions (tough body and mounts, strong gears, very controlled flaring, and ultra light). I am not saying these are the best tools for every job, and I agree that there are some issues regarding the lenses distortion - which are easily noticeable in review videos (evidently the other person didn't study before buying), which for me, has all be quickly addressable in an editor with limited adjustments if I decided to correct it. However, I have already had a few clients, including my own personal work, where the look and feel these lenses with the distortion they create is preferred, it added a feel to the image, it was the deciding factor to use these for the productions actually (feature films), it added a driving mood that complimented the narrative - so when I say they are a tool, I am simply saying - understand what your tools have to offer, and you will know if they are the right ones for the jobs, and in those cases, these lenses are phenomenal. They are a little too sharp for my typical feel, but I slapped a custom made filter in my matte box, and they have become the perfect look for my film making aesthetic. Study these lenses on YouTube, understand their strengths and weaknesses, and make sure those strengths align with your objective - if they do, BUY THESE - I love mine.
