Professional Video Camera For Television Production

My son is a professional in the television production industry. We gave him the tripod as a gift and he is very satisfied with it. It is very sturdy; capable of supporting the large cameras that he uses in his work.

We run a professional television studio where clients occasionally require teleprompter service. The teleprompter software we use is PromptSmart Pro (Ver. 2.1.3) with VoiceTrack auto-scrolling on a 10.2 in. 7th Gen iPad. The Prompt Smart voice recognition works best with an external mic. After researching many mics for this application, we chose the Shure MV88+ for its outstanding quality and features. The MV88+ mic and app are well made and easy to use. It allows you to choose and adjust various electronic performance attributes to suit the environment of your shoot. Though we were looking at less expensive mics in this class, you get what you pay for, and in my opinion the value of this microphone exceeds its price. Last week, at the end of a full-day production, the Creative Director for the production team came to me and said, “The teleprompter has made all the difference in taking the stress out of our production. It has performed flawlessly.”  I highly recommend this the Shure MV88+ for tablet or phone recording and/or voice- activated teleprompting. We are considering buying a second Shure MV88+ for use with two camera teleprompter productions because both teleprompters will track the talent’s voice simultaneously.

The S1H is a definitely a game changer for professional video production. The camera is really a full-blown 6K cinema camera in a mirrorless body that exceeds the capabilities of anything else in it’s class. For video, television, and film production I can confidently say it offers more bang for the buck of any video camera ever made. I own several cameras, including Sony F55, FS5, FS7, Z90, Z280 and Cano 5DmIV and the S1H has already become my camera of choice when shallow DoF is important, such as with interviews. I have a professional video production company. I have Bogen 3051 and 3016 tripods with 3063 heads. I have been using them in event videography for 22 years. The heads are worn out, but the legs are still good. I put the 502HD heads on them and they have new life. The 502HD has the qualities of a much more expensive head. It is larger and longer which allows for balancing the camera and the camera stays where you set it when tilting and panning. It has great pan and tilt locks and drags that are easy to use. It also weighs the same as the 3063 but is a larger platform.I haven't found any problems so far.

Every day I transfer video from field Production for television to hard drives for Producers/directors to send to post production. Hands down Lacie rugged are my go too drives. They are fast, reliable, and very well made. The only downside I have found is their customer service is not the best- but given the quality of these drives, you will never need to contact them!

I'm a television/video producer/editor with 30+ years of experience. I produce everything from retail commercials to a high-end travel show. Audio production has always been my weakest skill. I have traditionally relied on lavs but I wanted to up my game in field audio and as a usable and functional lav backup. I have only had moderate success using traditional shotgun mics as an audio source, usually only good for nat sound. The Sennheiser MKH416 is a game-changer! It can easily serve as the only audio source if needed. The clarity is cinema quality and the pick-up is outstanding. It is very directional, which means it will pick up dialogue very nicely and ignore the surrounding noise at the same time. Likewise, it picks up action sounds like car doors closing or footsteps so you don't have to Foley. I wanted a real boom mic and the 416 is it. $1k is hefty, but it profoundly increases the quality of your production. I also understand V/O pros use it. I can see why.

My video production is mainly for television commercials. I've owned other compact prime lenses before and when I had the opportunity to work with the Canon CN-E line, I immediately got more attention and compliments from my clients. The more I work with this line of lenses the more business I tend to get, which is why I chose to invest. To my surprise, this lens is even sharper than the 50mm and 85mm which I'd worked with in the past...I am impressed and very happy about my purchase.

I am a video professional and have owned and operated my production company for over 25 years. I started buying gear from B and H in the 80's and have enjoyed consistent positive experiences.
