I essentially have my own cloud. I have loaded the PLEX software to organize my movies, music, and photos. This works well with client devices like smart phones and TVs. One of the first things I did on my desktop was to map the letter Z: to the NAS drive. Now I can copy files from my PC using Windows explorer. Another bright spot is the DLNA app on the NAS. It allows you to stream your music collection in the My Music folder to your receiver, provided the receiver has Heos.

Bought this to serve as a Plex Media Server, on the back of my Synology DS918+. Total overkill, really, but I've been wanting something more powerful than the Synology to transcode high bitrate videos. This NUC more than does the job. Ubuntu 22.04 LTS installs without issues. If you're looking to run a Linux server on one of these, you can't go wrong. Idle usage is ~10W, peak usage around 90W, but it hovers around 50-60W most of the time when it's in use.

First NAS I ever set up. Set up was pretty easy, (I set it up as a Plex Media Server. It’s been running for a couple of weeks and everything is working great!

I bought the DS1819+ a few years ago to build a SSD array to use for Plex media service, and it's been fantastic. This DS1821+, using Synology's 16TB drives, has been fantastic so far - fairly easy to setup and understand, a great hybrid RAID feature, and it just feels solid. Very pleased!

The Synology DiskStation DS224 has become my Plex haven. Setting up this two-bay NAS took a couple of days for the initial data scrubbing and pool setup, but the hassle was well worth it. Now, I enjoy flawless remote access to my media library. The DS224 handles Plex with finesse, providing a seamless streaming experience. Its robust performance and the ability to customize my data setup make it an ideal choice for anyone looking to create their own media haven. The slight setup investment pays off big time for the convenience and reliability it brings to my Plex streaming escapades.

No issues so far. It's being used to run a Plex Media Server. It's a little noisier than the 1TB that was in previously, that's my only complaint. It was easy to install and came packaged very well from B&H.
