Called to be a true blockbuster for several reasons: 1-ultra compact size and very moderate weight (287g without caps) 2-18-50mm with constant f2.8 3-Competitive price. 4-AF is fast and accurate 5-the image quality is fantastic. 6-minimum focus distance 12cm The direct competitors are: -Sony 16-50mm f3.5-5.6 pros: + small / + cheap / with OSS (stabilizer) cons: poor image quality / slow -Sony 16-55mm f2.8; pros: slightly larger focal range cons: + expensive / + large / + heavy / idem: also without OSS -Sony 18-105mm f4; pros: OSS / better focal range / internal zoom cons: + large / + heavy / only f4 idem: similar price -the Tamron 17-70mm f2.8 pros: OSS / better focal range cons: + expensive / + large / + heavy (almost double) This Sigma could well be the only lens you need on your Sony APS-c

The extender setup was a breeze. It connected easily to my home network. It has extended the range of the WiFi significantly to the other end of the house. This sure beats the cheap knock-off I bought, which never was able to connect properly.
