To be fair I did no research into this when I bought it. I needed a zoom controller for my Ursa Broadcast G2 as I'm using it on a tripod for sports, and this is pretty much the only game in town without dropping gobs of money on a Fujinon controller. (I'm using the Fujinon kit lens in the G2 combo package). I knew it had the zoom rocker, zoom speed knob and a button behind the knob. What I didn't really is how agile this thing is. I didn't realize there were also 3 buttons under the handle as well. Just messing around I had the speed knob set up to be a focus knob, the button behind the knob set to trigger autofocus, a button underneath (there's actually one on either side of the handle but they're paired together to do the same function) to trigger record, and then the other two I set up for preset Focus A and preset Focus B. Shifting focus between the two presets was fast and precise. Will I ever actually use all the buttons? Probably not, I just wanted a zoom control. But I do see the ability to use the zoom speed knob as a half-baked focus wheel being useful down the road. My only real gripe is the mount. It's gigantic, and there's no adjustability. It took a bit of fiddling with my tripod to get it in a position where it was comfortable to use without the tripods arm getting in the way. It would be nice if there was a way to change the angle a little bit

I have long wanted a knob for zoom control, and this item is close to a knob. I use it on a Canon VIXIA G40, and I didn't need the adapter cable that came with it. The controller has a switch for Sony (S) or Panasonic (P), and the controller works on the S setting on this particular camera. Glad I got it!

I've been waiting on this Mackie Big Knob Studio Monitor Controller and Interface forever, finally B&H got them available, so i went ahead and get one, so far so great, sounds clean and crisp no coloration additive. I'm thinking about getting another one. I've tested the Onyx Mic pre's in Logic pro x, very clean, Mackie Big Knob Studio being advertised only at 24/96KHZ, it goes up to 192KHZ...

Very robust Studio Monitor controller. Has a big volume knob to passively control the volume of you studio monitors. Has a mute push in button:source, mono, monitor buttons as well.

The build quality of this monitor controller is really what impressed me the most. The actual unit itself is pretty simple; it's only a knob and two buttons, and it's passive. From what I can tell after some simple A/B testing, it's completely transparent. That being said, I would not trust the stereo balance at the extreme low positions (-36 or -85). This isn't a fault of the unit, it's just the nature of a potentiometer. To have 100% perfect stereo balance throughout the entire range of the knob's travel, you would need to spend over $1000, so this will provide excellent results for all but the most discerning studios. Let's be real here, you're not buying this if you're in a million dollar studio. If you're like me and thinking about buying a cheaper controller (I'm willing to bet I know which M brand and B brand you're looking at! ), spend the extra money and get a product that's made with quality materials and actually has detailed specifications provided from the manufacturer. You'll be glad you did.

Needed a monitor station when my well known big knob controller finally became unusable. The Palmer Monicon XL is a definite improvement, not only in function but in audio performance. Everything sounds better! Simple user interface has a lot of functionality with the setup options.

I ordered some studio monitors to go along with this controller and it works great for what I need. Buttons are pronounced and the knob is big enough to know where you are setting your volume. Its a great controller for any speaker/monitor setup. Very simple and easy to install also.

I never paid attention to a monitor controller until I added a new set of monitors and kept my old ones so I could A/B them during mixes. The Big Knob has exceeded my expectations on every level. My previous experiences with Mackie have been less than impressive, but I can't detect any noise, hiss, or degradation in sound while using it. The buttons work as promised, and the master volume knob is silky smooth allowing me to dial in the volume perfectly. I had an issue before I bought this where my old monitors would randomly issue a loud pop when on but not in use. Since adding the Big Knob that has gone away. It's hard to believe I had this much improvement for under $70.

This is a replacement controller. I lost the last one. I've been using one of these for the past 6 years together with the remote. I've no inclination to use anything else.
