Quick and easy no-fumble volume control. Now I can run my dj mixer/controller AND my digital sound device through the same active monitors without having to plug and unplug everything each time I want to use one or the other.

Great price, great speakers. The volume controller is an awesome added feature. The only con is the headphone jack volume on the controller is a bit low, but other than that a great buy. Very happy.

Very robust Studio Monitor controller. Has a big volume knob to passively control the volume of you studio monitors. Has a mute push in button:source, mono, monitor buttons as well.

Better than I expected. A couple of reviewers mentioned a constant hiss. I cannot hear any hiss. I'm using a pair of these monitors with my iMac to digitize vinyl. I use a Korg DAC, DSD capable, and a passive volume controller. The Korg has RCA outputs. I heard noises when using an RCA to 1/8 cable from the Korg to the volume controller. Then I changed to an RCA to XLR cable and the noise is gone. I use XLR cables from the volume controller to the monitors.

For context, I am not a sound engineer and I've been using the Polsen Volume Controller at my home work station. I think this volume controller is fantastic. Here are a few things that stand out me... - the metal construction feels and looks great on my desk - the metal knob is large and smooth - I especially like the rubber feet that keep the device from slipping in sliding - the mute button is an added bonus - no extra adaptor is needed to power the device! I never paid attention to a monitor controller until I added a new set of monitors and kept my old ones so I could A/B them during mixes. The Big Knob has exceeded my expectations on every level. My previous experiences with Mackie have been less than impressive, but I can't detect any noise, hiss, or degradation in sound while using it. The buttons work as promised, and the master volume knob is silky smooth allowing me to dial in the volume perfectly. I had an issue before I bought this where my old monitors would randomly issue a loud pop when on but not in use. Since adding the Big Knob that has gone away. It's hard to believe I had this much improvement for under $70.

Great sound right from the mic, but it does need a fethead or cloudlifter to get acceptable volume.

Disclaimer: I was sent this product in exchange for my honest review. And the first thing that stood out to me was the background noise rejection which was FANTASTIC due to the supercardioid polar pattern....and make no mistake about it, this is a huge selling point over the microphones in its class, as typically supercardioid and hypercardioid microphones are considerably more expensive than regular cardioid mics. Considering this is the same price or less than all of the mics in its class, this is a huge get for aspiring podcasters and gamers for the reason stated above....but how does it sound? In XLR mode, which is my preferred connection, with some compression, it easily holds its own, and I think i prefer it to the other mics due to its broadcast sound. It has nice smooth low end yet provides a really nice clarity that doesn't get too harsh or grainy up top. The build quality and controls for headphone volume are also a huge plus...but there is one other aspect of this mic that outshines EVERYTHING in its class, and that is the ease of use. This mic is the most adjustable volume wise in it's class, as it has plenty of headroom to get as loud or as soft as you want...and this is a big deal, as other usb mics sometimes are too quiet even when maxed out on your computers volume slider....this mic hits the mark of a great recording volume within seconds of plugging it in. To sum things up...there are no major drawbacks to this microphone. It is built well, simple to use, and can provide some great quality sound and noise rejection, and THAT..is what we all look for in a multi-purpose easy to transport handheld mic.

it gives me the sound I,m looking for in a harmonica mic. The volume control is definitely a big plus. If your blowin harp- this is the mic to use.
