Reaper Playback Through Computer Speakers

I needed a digital recorder to record telephone conversations (using a commercially available splitter in the handset line of the telephone). After carefully comparing available products and pricing, I bought the DM-420 from B&H via internet. ... The instructions are easy to follow (a big plus, because I am recovering from a brain injury -- I returned another similar device, to a different dealer, because its operating instructions were gibberish). (1) The device works perfectly for its intended purpose. It does not pick up interference from computers or other nearby devices. It is a snap to transfer the mp3 files to the computer (Win XP Pro) via USB cable. Playback via computer speakers was crystal clear. (2) I also used the DM-420 yesterday to record a concert performance ... playback over the built-in speaker was clear in the high and mid-ranges but lacking bass; however, playback via the computer speakers is excellent, including the the bass voices. (3) I also recorded voice conversations yesterday using the built-in microphone; playback through the built-in speaker is clear and even very faint background conversations are intelligible. Very happy with this product!

I use these speakers in meeting rooms of various sizes and for several purposes such as lectures, symposia, music playback, and movies. They are installed in drop ceilings, which, of course, has its drawbacks, but the response and delivery of these speakers is outstanding. I wouldn't think of going with another choice except to upgrade to the 47c/t in rooms that can handle more bass. response.

I finally can listen to my tracks as they were recorded. No added color, no noise, just clean powerful sound. I'm using 250 ohm reference quality headphones and I get plenty of volume.

Great piece of gear! I bought it mainly for the flexibility of being able to control the playback of music from my computer to different amps and speakers. I can also mix in music from my phone (with the right connections) and generally have a lot of flexibility in the configuration and relative level settings.

To watch Tv, Record, Playback ETC. This is a must have for a kitchen computer. The kids can watch TV while they eat and it keeps food out of other areas of the house. Excellent product. Only con is that it does not produce a full screen.
