Recorder Instrument Border Paper

A very nice paper at a time when 13 rolls are hard to come by. I like to print 8x12 with a half inch border. I can do this with this roll with no waste. As for the paper, to date I have found no fault with it.

I used this paper to print my newest body of work and knew people would be handling this paper. This paper is NOT flimsy and holds out finger prints which is perfect. Once you print on the fibre rag, if you leave a border on the image, you will notice that the border looks more matte compared to the section where the ink laid. This paper is like the Epson Luster just BETTER and THICKER! It's a beautiful paper, I used Epson 3880 printer and it's thin enough for it to fit in the normal paper slot. I am always asked what kind of paper I use!!!

Perfectly packaged so that it arrived all the way to New Zealand without any dings = thanks B&H. Gave me the confidence to order additional mat products. Works great for me with a 12x18 print on 13x19 paper, as gives a nice border. You can tweak the print area a touch large for a signature, or alternatively print borderless - of course matching paper white toning when using a border. This mat cutout size gives that flexibility.

If you have not usedHahnemhle Photo Rag before, it is an excellent matte paper. It is thick, luscious, and the rounded corners of these cards give an elegance to the prints made on them. Given the container and the rounded corners, these are meant to be hand held and stored in the metal tin. These make excellent miniature portfolio, gifts, and print sets included in photography packages for weddings, etc. If you intend to frame a print, buy the regularHahnemhle Photo Rag paper. It is cheaper. If you don't need the rounded corners, there is no sense in paying more for them. The other thing to keep in mind is that printing a borderless image on this paper is difficult. On an Epson P600, the paper must be fed through flat as fine art paper rather than through the sheet feeder. Additionally, in order to do borderless prints, the paper must be affixed to and centered on a larger sheet with tape before being fed through the printer. This is quite a hassle, and ink can get on the edges of the paper. Considering how thick this paper is, ink on the edges of the paper only at the rounded corners can be distracting and look unprofessional when the prints are handheld. I personally leave a white border on all images printed on this paper. Because these cards are meant to be handheld, the white border removes the distraction of the world behind the image when the print is being viewed. Additionally, the white border reduces the likelihood of someone touching the surface of the paper above the image, as the people viewing your cards will not always handle them as carefully as you do. I do not print larger than 5x7 on these cards. I resize all aspect ratios to fit within the constraint of a centered 5x7 image area with excellent results.

I shoot mainly with a Leica M10 Monochrom and print on a Canon imagePROGRAF PRO-1000, so other equipment may yield different results. However, this is absolutely my favorite photo paper for black and white prints. If you use the same printer, be aware that the PRO-1000 will try to force a large border for this particular paper (it does not for the pro lustre or glossy versions). I use the 8 1/2 x 11 and print 6x9 for most of my prints using the 35mm aspect ratio, and am super happy with the results as the printer wants 1 border minimum. For large prints, I also purchased the 13x19 size paper.

I use this paper to make contact proofs from 4 x 5 glass negatives. Why not 4 x 5 paper? The 5 x 7 gives me a pure paper border around the negative image to better evaluate the blacks in the print.

I like the black border rather than the white. It sets the image off better.

I have used these for years and like the thickness and the large border for notes.
