Recording Audio On Laptop Computer

I'm new to recording for AM radio, but I know what I want - a clean recording, one that can be cranked up without annoying distortion, and procedures that are easy to understand and do. It's all in the RODE USB podcaster. In the past three months, I've tried SM58s, Shure SM63LB (mic for television interviewing), and several other mics that I plugged into my laptop 1/8 port - and they all made somewhat degradable recordings. The RODE USB connection means that the mic goes directly into my computer USB port - like it was meant to in the first place - and it goes directly into my Audacity software - BOOM - clean and bright. I don't want headaches with complicated hookups for my computer. I have a Windows 7 laptop, and all I did was stick the USB wire into the computer. Fantastic. Twenty seconds later a message popped up - Successfully installed. I went to my software and hit the record button, and INSTANTLY I was recording. What a gem.

This makes recording with a professional XLR microphone directly into a computer super easy. The description says, effortlessly connect your microphone, and it was correct. This is truly plug and play. My computer recognized it fast, and I was up and running in no time at all. It used to be a hassle and require more equipment for me to do what I can do effortlessly now with this audio interface. I like that it can work with both dynamic microphones and condenser mics because it also provides phantom power if you select it to do so. That is great, and again makes my life easier. Having a mic gain is also very helpful to achieve proper levels. And a headphone jack and headphone volume control is another added bonus that I appreciate very much. I plugged it directly into the back of my mics XLR output and then sent the USB C directly to the computer which was the easiest way for me. The sound that came from it was clear and crisp. I noticed no delay and no added noise. The build quality on this interface is also impressive. It is all metal and well-made. The dials feel well made and it comes with dedicated Velcro straps if you want to attach it to something, like a boom pole or stand. I am very happy with this XLR to USB-C audio device. It has made recording audio straight to a computer much easier and with great quality. [I have received this product in exchange for my honest review]

Needed to replace a similar cable from our mixer to an audio recording computer. Great length, nice molded strain relief on both ends too.

Using this to run from my computer to my analog to digital audio interface for recording. Working great!

I use it perfectly with the Behringer X Air XR18, for USB recording of 18 audio tracks to the computer located at 50 meters with a Cable RJ45 cat5.E

Super quiet for computer recording. Send your alt 3\4 outputs to the audio interface and your laying tracks. Spot easy layout and setup. I have owned 16, 14, 12 channel Mackies and they are bullet proof! Hats off to B&H for lightning fast free shipping and hassle free returns!

Setup was very easy for this microphone. It is a simple plug & play use. I tested it with garageband on a mac computer and audacity on a windows computer. Both worked seamlessly. The audio recording quality was better than I expected for paying this price on a microphone. Vocal recording is very nice (singing/podcast type applications). Acoustic guitar recording sounded great. Acoustic guitar was about 8 feet away from the mic when testing it out. I imagine fine tuning my recording process will only make it sound better. I used the mic to record a band practice session. I just placed the mic in the center of the room and played around it. The mic worked surprisingly well to pick up the instruments (recorded in garageband). Obviously this technique is not going to sound amazing but it is better than I have recorded other times with a TASCAM device or other microphone into a computer. The overload led light is nice to visually show you when the microphone input volume is set too high. I have been typically running at 20-30% when testing up-close vocals. So it shows there is an input range to work with. The microphone base stand is a nice simplistic setup. It does limit the positioning of the microphone on there but I believe this is what is intended. The stand will not allow for a horizontal positioning of the mic. Since I do not need the feature and do not think the stand was intended to do that, I did not take away from the rating. I recommend this microphone for anyone looking to have a usb microphone as a step above the bottom line microphones but do not want to spend money in the $100-$150 range. I imagine it would compete with those in terms of audio quality. If you wanted anything better than this, I would say to think about spending over $150.

I'm using this mainly to get high quality audio output from my computer to my high-end stereo. Overall, the sound is excellent. Especially the clarity and detail in the high end. The bass is just slightly less tight than the output from my CD player, but quite acceptable. I suspect even that would not be an issue with the balanced outputs. Connecting two Rode NT1A large condenser mics in a stereo pair results in a very high quality recording with a low noise floor, as you might expect from a company like SSL. You can also record one mic for vocals and a direct input from a guitar. Supposedly the channel 3/4 output lets you create a custom headphone mix when doing multitrack recording. I couldn't see how to do that in the DAW software I'm using (Audacity on Windows).

I am a professional video editor and I use my 1202fx for recording audio into my computer. I am absolutely pleased as peaches with this mixer I have had it for a little over a year and I have not had a problem with it yet. in response to the previous review up in smoke I have had my 1202fx on for days on end and while it did run hot it never got too hot. what I would recommend (and what I do myself) is to buy a little switch (you can get em from ...) you can plug the cord into to turn it off every night after your done with it.

I bought this as a gift for my friend who doesn't have an audio interface for his laptop. He was having all sorts of phasing issues recording with his internal microphone- and of course poor input-volume. He pulled this right out of the box and was able to hook in up and start recording instantly! We're both very satisfied. Thanks a lot, B & H! -Josh Dobbs
