Remote Control Underwater Video Camera

I have a Panasonic camera remote mounted so needed control. Use it to video our church services. I have not had any problems so far have used it for 2 weeks. So far no negatives.

I added this camera to my set-up at church for producing services on-line, and was very pleasantly surprised with how good the video is! I am not an expert in any of this, but the video is much more saturated and "deeper" than another much more expensive PTZ camera I have. I was a little chagrinned when I found out that the remote control commands for my other camera, and this one overlap each other, but relieved when I found out I could use one remote to control both by using the "camera select" buttons, and they would stop with the interaction. All in all, very satisfied with it.

I've had a number of point and shoot cameras over the years and although they were pretty good cameras, there was always something missing. I was always looking for something more, maybe better video, a longer zoom or a remote control - something. I read about this camera online , bought one and I couldn't be happier. I am far from a photo expert but I know what I like and I know a nice picture and/or video when I see one. This camera takes amazing still pictures and the videos in AVCHD format are outstanding, even inside under incandescent lighting. Add in the longer zoom that you would normally find on a larger sensor point and shoot camera and in my opinion it is the perfect travel camera. I also love the Panasonic Image App which allows me to use my smartphone as a remote control. My only complaint and it's not really a complaint is that the camera has so many functions that it can be a bit overwhelming at first, especially if you are not real familiar with the Panasonic menu system. Also, the camera body is very slippery so be sure to use a wrist or neck strap - it will slip out of your hands. I have to comment on the service from B&H. I live in the Vancouver, Canada area and I ordered this camera online early in the morning @1:00am. It was delivered to my office by noon the next day, less than thirty six hours from New York to Vancouver. Not only was the service incredible, but the total price with the free accessories made buying from B&H a no-brainer. I give both the camera and B&H five stars out of five.

This RC-6 Wireless Remote Control works well with my CANON XC15 Video Camera, but only for taking pictures. If you have your XC15 Camera set to Video Mode it will take a picture instead of starting a video recording. On a special note, it works from behind the camera if you are within 2 feet and have a fresh battery installed.

Works well to control tugging on my remote for my camera.

Just finished a trip to the Caribbean using this housing and it performed very well. The first thing you'll notice is just how bulky it is. I was more used to the slim fit of Canon's underwater housings for their Digital Elph line of pocket shooters. Sony's unit must make room for the full throw of the 70mm (equiv.) zoom lens, a mechanism to turn the control ring around the lens, and flexibility to fit all five RX100 models. Once you get over the size, you'll appreciate the amount of control you have over the unit. You'll have access to nearly every button and lever on the camera, including the control ring. About the only functionality you'll lose is the ability to spin the click wheel in the lower right of back controls. But, you can still operate that wheel as a 4-way D-pad with 4 dedicated buttons. In terms of usability, size does play a factor. The bulk might make one-handed operation tricky for folks with small hands. It will definitely consume the use of one hand entirely; you can't just let it dangle from your wrist. So, climbing a ladder back onto a boat, managing your flippers and snorkel, etc. can be a challenge. I usually had to hand my camera off at that point. Once in the water, the weight of the housing is balanced nicely by its buoyancy. It's pretty easy to keep it pointed at a target, even one-handed. If you let go of it, it will float, but it's not fighting you while trying to shoot. Still, you'll need 2 hands to keep it steady for video, especially with any kind of current. My only wish is that the camera itself had a higher top end on LCD screen brightness. It was the first thing I had to dig through the settings on once underwater. And, it only goes up 2 levels, which was still a challenge depending on the angle of sunlight. As such, I never made use of control ring and relied solely on full auto mode. All in all, I made out with some great photos and HD/4K video. And had the peace of mind and confidence to take a $900 camera underwater

The ML-L3 Remote Control has allowed me to capture images in low or lower light situations that before were compromised by camera shake. What a difference this simple device makes! My understanding is that it will both focus and then release the shutter althought I am still working with this aspect. At this point I am simply focusing through the view finder and then releasing the shutter with the remote. As mentioned in other reviews, the sensor for the remote in on the front of the camera rather than the back. This is nota problem once you know where to hold the remote.
