Replace Dvd Drive In Samsung Laptop

I mainly use this drive to watch DVD movies on my laptop. It has performed flawlessly.

I bought this DVD Drive to go along with an ASUS ZenBook Pro UX501VW DS71T laptop which doesn't include an internal DVD drive. This DVD drive is barely the size of a DVD disk. It matches nicely with the laptop. It comes with a software disk and a USB splitter cable (you will need two USB ports available on your computer to use this drive). It is well constructed and functions beautifully. The included software is optional. This drive is plug and play, however, my laptop didn't come with Windows DVD Player software. No Problem... I downloaded a highly downloaded free DVD software suite and it works perfectly. It does what I bought it to do. It is not a blue-ray player though. If that is important to you, you'll need to pick another drive.

I recently bought a new laptop, no dvd drive. No problem, just ad this external drive when I need one.

Great drive. It sure beats the two USB connectors required to power the Samsung portable DVD drive.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this SSD Drive to replace a old 500GB WD Blue. What I like about the Samsung Drive is the Magician Software.It allows me to clone my old drive using a SATA to USB. Once I put the new Samsung drive in my laptop. The laptop loaded windows faster than my spinning hard drive and my program responce is smoother and quicker.

Bought this drive to replace a 10 year old Asus dvd-rw drive. I am in the process of backing up my CD collection, and the old drive wasn't happy after a few solid days of ripping. Once I installed this drive, I was ripping 5x faster! Approx. 5-15 minutes per CD, and with NO errors. It does slow down a little after about 5 consecutive rips, which puts it in the 10-15 min. Range. Have not tested bluray or dvd functions so I can't comment on those capabilities.

This drive only works on newer Apple Computers. I had to purchase another DVD/CDW drive to work on my old iMac G-5 to replace the worn out drive built in the computer; I was lucky that B&H had that drive and it works fine.  I had no problems with the Apple USB SuperDrive on my new computer and will keep when I replace the newer computer (7 years old now) as the new iMacs do not have a built in drive.

I was finally able to replace my old hit a button go fix a sandwich windows XP machine. I wanted a replacement that would do the job now while at the same time keep on ticking for years to come. This machine sits nicely in the middle with a 13th gen I7 processor, 32GB of included RAM, onboard DVD drive, a fast booting SSD and room to add more. I bought a Xcellon DisplayPort to VGA Adapter to connect my old Samsung SyncMaster 213T monitor and it works fine. Windows 11 could do better as far as drivers for older peripherals; it took a bit of doing but I have most of mine up and running now. The things I don't like so far: 1) Windows 11 takes it an inordinately long time to wake up from sleep mode. and 2) the DVD drive is pretty flimsy- like a cheap version of what you used to get in laptops. It remains to be seen how well it will hold up. Other than the inevitable learning curve and growing pains when upgrading to a new computer, that's about it.

This DVD was used to replace a Liteon DVD that had stopped recording. The installation was easy, being a SATA drive. No cord was supplied but used my old one with no problem. On researching the drive I noticed that the LG drive uses a worm gear drive for the drawer which is more durable than the rubber drive belt system used on the Liteon. I am using it to make a DVD backup of my years' photos.
