Retina Display Portable Monitor

I switched to a Mac Studio recently after spending the last 10 years editing video on iMac, and this monitor holds up incredibly well. No, it is not a 5K Retina display. However, it is about $1,000 less expensive than an Apple Display, and after using it for two weeks, I'm not noticing any major differences. The color and the resolution are high quality and very suitable for editing 4K video. This monitor also connects directly to the Mac Studio through a USB-C, and it started right up the first time. (I had read reviews that firmware needed to be updated on the monitor to use the USB-C connection, but I didn't not experience this). The 31.5 display is also a nice upgrade over the 27 iMac - that extra bit of real estate is always welcome. It takes up about the same amount of space on my desk as the iMac did. The matte screen is also great. The Retina Displays were too glossy with too many reflections, whereas this monitor minimizes and soften reflections. I'm very happy with this purchase, and if you're looking for a cost-effective alternative to an Apple Display, I would recommend the Dell Ultrasharp 31.5 4K HDR Monitor. 5 |

I went from a 27inch Retina 5K display so I was worried about the clarity on this monitor. When it arrived I was pleasantly surprised with how clear everything was and now I have extra room to multi task. I love it! 5 |

Monitor's colors are vibrant. Retina display is typical Apple excellence. The build quality is sturdy and excellent. Monitor has no buttons but as it is connected to a Mac Studio, all controls are available in the MacOS interface; so this is actually a non-issue. 5 |

I've split my productivity and gaming setups for years. And this display represents a significant leap toward an eventual convergence. For productivity, I typically use a semi-recent Mac connected to some kind of Apple-sanctioned retina display. While for gaming, I typically run a custom-built Windows PC and some kind of 1440p+ monitor running at or above a refresh rate of 120hz. Recent improvements to Linux have made it easier for me to supplant macOS and Windows with a single software base, and the commodity hardware available for Linux systems–muck like Windows systems–is a big plus for me. However, the display has always been a weak point. The lower PPI of non-retina displays distracts me from my productivity and will eventually result in strain given extended use. But this monitor hasn't quite closed the gap for what I'm looking for. One day, I hope to have the best of both worlds. A retina display with excellent color and a high refresh rate that works well with commodity hardware. Until then, this is my favorite monitor on the market. 5 |

This display is beautiful and a good match for my new iMac 24 Retina Display. Thank you, Marco, for suggesting it. It's a little more expensive than what I had in mind but well worth it. Easy set-up and looks terrific as a dual screen. 5 |

If you need a small portable monitor I highly recommend this one. Power and display signal all through one cord is useful and with adapters can fit any application. 5 |

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] When I work from home, it's challenging to get everything done when I need to shrink all the windows and tabs to fit my laptop monitor. I used to have an additional desktop monitor, but it was so large and heavy and not very portable for using not only at my desk, but from the couch or out on the patio. I started using the ViewSonic display just a couple of weeks ago and I absolutely love it! It's lightweight, glare-free, and easily portable to set up beside me on the couch or out on the patio. It's simple to plug in the two cords from the ViewSonic display to connect it to the laptop. The cords are long enough to give a little flexibility for adjusting your position, but not so long that they get in the way. I only wish my laptop monitor was as good as the ViewSonic display!! 5 |

Great portable gaming monitor! I have a small form factor PC and this compliments it great when I'm traveling and won't all the power of my desktop to go! It's faster and more responsive them most regular monitors and having the ability to use one cable to power it and display the image at 240Hz is super convenient and clean! I plug in 2 wires for my whole PC! The power wire to the tower and one to the monitor! Also use used it as a second display with my 17" laptop and it was nice to have videos on one while working on the other or using both to work from. Definitely recommend! 5 |
