This is an amp with a retro vibe, harkening back to the audio days of old--late 60's-70's. It is solidly built, with plenty of power for most speakers. I was actually surprised how good this amplifier sounds--my last amplifier pushed considerably more watts but didn't sound nearly as good. I love the minimalist design of this amp-perfect for someone who remembers the golden age of stereo. Hats off to Yamaha for having the guts to produce a quality amp reminiscent of classic gear, and to B & H for their unbelievably fast shipping! 5 |

In 1969 I saw a solid-body electric guitar with a three-inch amplifier built into the face of the guitar. The tiny speaker was powered by a nine-volt battery inserted in the back of the instrument. Fantastic, I thought, why don't they make a suction-cup amp that sticks onto the face of the guitar? A zillion years later they did and it is fine. 5 |
