Rode Video Micro On Camera Microphone

I purchased the Rode video micro because of the attractive price, Rode brand name, and the fact I use a mirrorless camera which is small in form, so the video micro's size is perfect. I've recently started filming at conventions, vlog style, so the built in camera Mic, as I found out the hard way, is terrible at capturing anything other than the roaring hiss of thousands of attendees. I am NOT disappointed with this purchase. The Rode video micro does an excellent job at capturing directional audio and blocking out atmospheric noise. Dialogue directly in front of the camera is nice and clear while limiting the sound from behind. No additional battery or on switch means I don't have to worry about forgetting to turn the Mic on. I can't say I noticed any excessive battery drain from my camera battery that would lead me to believe the Mic is drawing its fair share of power. For the price tag and size Rode put a lot in a small package. And I'm thankful for their effort. I am looking forward to finding out how Rode's higher end mics will further improve my content.

I own a number of Rode microphones and have been looking for something between the Rode Video Micro and the Rode NTG line. I wanted something with a small footprint and lightweight to use with the Rode Micro Boom Pole Pro but that could also serve as an on camera microphone. The VideoMic Go II fits the bill. It sounds amazing and allows me to boom in small/ tight areas while also giving me a good mic on camera for scratch audio.

This is a great camera for the money! The Rode mounted microphone is perfect for the video blogging I am starting to do. The picture quality is excellent, and the tracking during video is stellar! It enables me to start recording, sit back down and know that I will be in focus even when I move around. You can't beat B&H's customer service! They go over and beyond for their customers. I do customer service training for a living, and I wish I could take credit for their amazing abilities! Great experience, and I love this camera!

Mic adapter works perfect with my Video Micro microphone.

In order to use my old iPhone 5c with the Rode Micro microphone, this cable was necessary. I adapted it to my iPhone 7 lightning port as a test and it didn't work. I didn't investigate because the plan was to use the mic with the old phone anyway, so it might have worked and could have been my set up.

I don't know much about this stuff but I record video on my iphone using the Rode Wireless Go and Rode Lavalier Go and my microphone would blow out sometimes when I talked louder. The rep at BH said this could fix that and give me slightly better sound quality. It seems to be doing exactly that as my mic isn't blowing out as hard as before.
