I bought this after reading a review in LensRentals, I like Roger Cicala's take on it. In that review it was used for the same specific thing I needed it for, which is my 35 was back focusing when trying to focus in distant subjects. Given that I have 3 Sigma lenses now (only two can be used with this), and would definitely buy another one, I decided it would be useful to have it. I was able to fix the issue with my 35mm and I had no complains with my 50mm, but because I got the dock I started testing it more carefully and ended up making a tiny adjustment also on the infinity focusing setting.

Roger and Frances Hicks told me about Hood Hats when I told them I had burned out two Leica M shutters on a trip to Mexico. I had no idea this solution was available and I now have one for all my M lenses. No more fiddling with fussy cap and hood combinations. The Hood Hat blocks out the sun and protects the lens and hood from damage, and you see it immediately in the viewfinder, so there is no chance of shooting with it on. A terrific product. Worth every penny.

I'm blown away by the quality at an affordable price. My previous tripod is the Three Legged Thing "Roger" a folding collapsible aluminum tripod. It has 5 legs that are twist lock. Also a dual stage column that's twist lock. It's best feature is that it collapses to around 15" Once I set this up, it was obviously a high quality traditional tripod I'm a Real Estate photographer. I need to quickly get my tripod ready and this Mach 3 fills the ticket. With the upper two legs extended and my Benro gear head with Canon MK4 mounted, I still have plenty column left to extend up or down for my 5'6" body. 6' tall guys would have to fully extend the column and stoop a little with only two legs out. Of course, they can also extend the lowest leg and lower the column all the way down. Ideally, in Real Estate photography, you want the quickest set up. For me, I grab two twist locks at the same time, pull out the leg and lock each column. It's very quick and doesn't take much force when twisting to keep the legs from slipping down. Comparing this tripod to the Three Legged Thing leaves me wishing I'd have got this first. It's much less flexy, doesn't shake or vibrate like the Roger, sliding it's legs out is smooth whereas the Roger gets bound and it's twist locks don't give you good feed back when it's tight, the Mach 3 does. All the good things you've read about it are true. If I had planned on using the case it comes with, I'd have to say it's good, but with the Benro Gear head mounted, I have to stretch the case to get it to zip up. If they added 1 " more at one end, it would be perfect. Lucky.for me, I don't plan on using the bag often. I'm hoping this will last forever because my initial impression is it's a keeper.

Gets good review from Roger at lens rentals. Does the job with minimum light loss.

I have a 3 Legged Thing Roger tripod with Airhed 3 head. It's great for stills. See my review for that if you don't think it really holds 66 lbs. (Actually, I think the new line is out and Roger is discontinued :( ) Anyway, I knew the head would be inadequate for shooting video and I liked the reviews for this one. It might be overkill for my gear, but it worked great. Panning was smooth as silk. I didn't really have to tilt as what I was shooting was on a stage with no ups and downs. It all felt really secure. I think some have complained about the location of the sliding plate tightening knob. I agree. With a DLSR, the body sticks out over it when the weight is centered. I would imagine that a video camera would be narrower and might not have that issue. I was running a D750 with a large lens, a Video Assist, a Zoom H6 with XY mic, and a shotgun mic, all on a Vello triple shoe bracket. I'm not sure what all of that weighs, but it didn't seem to bother the 502HD one bit. I look forward to using this some more.

Like Roger Ebert used to say, read the review not the stars. This lens has to get 5 for its build quality and price. I wanted something for my A7c that was compact and fun – and could also be used for stylized video on my A7s III. I wanted the soft corners and vignetting wide open and am happy with it. The lens is a bit heavier than I expected though. It's heavier than a few Samyang primes I have and as heavy as vintage primes that are more than twice as big (Zeiss Jena/Super-Takumar). It's not heavy in absolute terms, just for its size.

The articles written by Roger Cicala and his colleagues have convinced me and many others that a Zeiss protective filter is a sound idea. I like to use one while getting accustomed to a new lens. I would also be glad to have it when water droplets or fog appears on the lens: much better to appropriately wipe the filter than the lens itself.

Great vest. I'm using it in an underground coal mine. It's like having an extra pair of hands. It distributes weight evenly. I use it for batteries, flashes, all sorts of accessories. There are no pockets for big lenses, but that's O.K. It would make the vest too heavy and cumbersome. It's pretty good at repelling lime and coal dust and water and is not likely to tear easily. Pockets are lined with soft material, which is easy on lenses. These vests are a little pricey, but worth it. They're professional gear and are made for rugged use.
