Rollei Camera Backpack

I previously bought the Fotodiox Pro Rollei 35 to MFT lens mount adapter, to adapt my Rollei macro and telephoto lenses to my Panasonic Lumix GX7. It worked fine with the lenses, but would NOT fit my Rollei bellows unit or extension tubes. Logically, if it fits the lenses, it should fit the bellows and tubes, but it doesn't. I have no idea why, nor did B&H or Fotodiox when I contacted them with the problem. I then asked B&H if the Metabones unit might be more accessory-compatible, but they had no idea, which was perfectly understandable considering the oddball nature of the problem. In the spirit of you never know 'till you try, I went ahead and ordered the Metabones unit. I considered returning the Fotodiox adapter, but, not knowing if the Metabones adapter would be any better, I reluctantly decided to keep the Fotodiox one. The happy ending is that the Metabones adapter works perfectly with every lens and accessory (I still don't what the difference is, but it's real). It also has a (removeable) Arca-Swiss-type quick-release foot that eliminates a lot of strain on the MFT camera's lens mount from the larger, heavier Rollei lenses, especially the long telephotos. The only improvement I could suggest would be to make the foot's stalk about a quarter-inch taller. That would allow clearance for any quick-release camera plate that you might have mounted on your camera (I use an Arca-type L-bracket on my GX7). Anyway, problem solved, great product! 5 |

its not a traditional rollei camera, its different in a rather good way. first, its not as sturdy as the old rollei, but it is much lighter and more portable. dont misunderstand, its not flimsy, its just like a modern day, easy to carry around camera. second, the view plane is slightly less bright when compares to an old rollei (3.5F), but then considering this camera is 5.6F, so the brightness is quite good actually. a little incident happened while i was using this camera, the pictures come out all overexposed, completely white. i thought the camera has problem. I email Mint (the current manufacturer of this new rollei camera), they are nice and patient and guided me through, turn out, I turned the camera into B mode and didnt notice it. overall, this is a good camera and worth buying. 5 |

I use the BlackRapid Backpack Breathe Camera Strap with a Lowepro ProTactic Backpack. One side of the strap connects perfectly to the rings located on the front of the backpack's shoulder straps and the other side connects onto a loop on the bottom of the pack on the other side. The BlackRapid backpack strap allows me to have quick access to my camera. With the camera on the BlackRapid strap, I no longer need to bring my backpack to my side to remove and use my camera. I now use my backpack only to store and change lenses. My camera can now remain outside my backpack, located conveniently to my side at hip level. When I want to shoot, the camera slides smoothly up the camera strap to eye level. I like that the camera hangs upside-down when resting on the strap. It makes for an easy get to position when my camera is resting at my side. This strap is amazingly slick and fun to use. I have to admit that I find myself playing around with it, like I'm some sort of gunslinger, showing off how quick I can be on the draw. I appreciate the movable clips provided on the BlackRapid camera strap. The two clips are easily adjusted, allowing me to restrict the movement of the camera to stay in one place on the strap when I am planning not to shoot. All of the attachment parts seem well made and designed. I keep the bottom strap strapped to the bottom of my backpack and store the rest of the strap in a small pocket on my backpack when I am not using the strap. Then, all I have to do is remove the strap from the small backpack pocket and connect the free end to the opposite shoulder strap . . . and I'm ready to go! I wish the piece that that screws into the camera (Camera Socket Attachment) was designed so that the camera could sit flat when attached, and if the design of the socket attachment would permit a tripod or mono-pod to be screwed into it without having to unscrew it from the camera. I absolutely love the BlackRapid Backpack Breathe Camera Strap! 5 |
