Rolleiflex Digital Camera Review

2024-08-11 06:38:37

I never used an instant film camera before and I have always been digital SLR user. However, I really like the look of the Rolleiflex camera and always wanted one. While I was shopping around for an instant camera, I saw this camera which looks very much like a Rolleiflex so I bought it. I am very happy and having fun shooting with this camera. It is not just point and shoot, you still need to make some adjustment to get what you want, but that is the beauty of photography!

I use this film in my 1950s Rolleiflex when I'm feeling that I need a break from digital or I want that feel that you only get with medium format B&W. This film has just the right amount of grain, and it's really easy to develop. I'm a complete amateur when it comes to developing my own film, and I can easily get good results with this film in a daylighting tank in my kitchen. The 400 ISO makes it easy to get good exposures on an older camera where the shutter speeds are no longer so accurate, and the tonal range is very nice.

best thing about this is that it connects well with my Rolleiflex TL

Happy to report it fits my Rolleiflex 3.5a - hope this review reaches any who were (like me) wondering if it would work!

I purchased this Domke protective wrap for my Rolleiflex. The wrap adds a protective layer so when I'm traveling or just keeping my camera in the bag, it is is protected against bumps & without adding tremendous bulk. I absolutely love it.

I used the 1300 for a single Rolleiflex FW4, and the second 1300 is for a Rolleiflex FX 2.8. I only cut out enough foam for each camera, and its strap, but nothing else. I guess with having just a single item in the case, it is worth the mess to cut out the foam, and have the girlfriend pluck and cut and use the bottle of glue, but even she found it a pain, especially the first one. Get a bottle of rubber cement to put back pieces, and glop the glue on both sides of every surface. How long does the glue hold? I don't know, but you have no choice as the manufacturer does not provide an alternative except a case with no foam at all. Those nifty moveable silk foam dividers that come with the bigger Pelicans are not available for the 1300. You would have to make one. The Pelican box is the best protection I can afford a $7,000 camera, waterproof, and just the right size and weight too, six pounds including the camera, which, with a three pound tripod, is not too heavy for the majestic negatives of das medium formatten kameran.I might try for an orange one next time, as like the black ones...You can stand or sit on the Pelican too.

I have a vintage Rolleiflex TLR with a 3/8 tripod socket. I purchased some small, stainless steel bushings, hoping I could adapt the camera for use with a modern tripod that has a 1/4 thread. The bushings protruded beyond the camera base and scratched the tripod plate. This Manfrotto adapter has a flange, which solves the problem perfectly.
