Running Linux From A Usb Flash Drive

Works quite well with my EOS 5D MkII and Darktable running on Linux. Well built, the USB connectors keep firmly attached event without the JerkStopper Extension Lock. Communication loss may happen occasionally but not more than with the original Canon cable alone. I like the color ;-) 5 |

We are using a flash drive to store and playback videos on a portable projector. I tried with a USB 3.0 Flash Drive, thinking the newer version was better. But the projector had a different idea. I learned from the professionals at B+H that this unit requires an older USB 2.0 Flash Drive. I never would have thought of that but sure enough, when I used this Verbatim 64G Ergo USB 2.0, the projector recognized the videos and played them flawlessly. 5 |

I bought this diskless and installed a pair of HGST NAS DeckStar 6TB HDD as a RAID1 on a Win7 network. Have contacted Buffalo support a couple of times and could not disagree more with the dissatisfaction expressed by other reviewers: I had fast, accurate and literate replies. I use this as a strictly LAN device, no Torrent, no iStuff. A positive is the USB port to which a backup drive may be added and the system can be set to do an automatic back-up to this drive (I'm security conscious and have a 6TB WD Red NAS mounted there and back-up is done very night and reported to me by email). A potential issue in event of a hardware failure is the Linux OS as Linux formatting differs from MS, but the USB back-up mitigates this as it is MS formatted. Also, while fast enough for my purposes, the processor's speed may not be up to another person's expectations. All in all, coming up to four years now, I'm very satisfied. 5 |

This is a great flash drive that has proven stable across various OS platforms (Windows, Linux, Mac) and has great features. The retractable USB interface works great and holds tightly when connected to a computer while the build quality is nice; the plastic is solid and holds up to daily use. 5 |

For the money, this flash drive performs well. On my Linux Mint 19.1 system read speed was about 110 MB/s with write speed around 13 MB/sec. Comparable Silicon Power flash drives I have clock-in at reads of 111 MB/s and writes of only 8 MB/s, while a Lexar unit reads at 138 MB/s while writing at 9 MB/s. So overall a good performance and well suited to my sneaker net uses. 5 |
