Rx1R Professional Compact Camera With 35Mm Sensor

This an excellent camera for THE premier 35mm focal length shooting experience. I'm a long time Leica M shooter and hate big cameras. The RX1R II is what I've been waiting for the past several years and is now my main digital body for color use, which accompanies my Leica M3 and two prime lenses for analog monochrome use. What's to like? The RX1R II is very small and light (smaller than the Leica M series; it's more comparable to the Leica IIIf in both size and weight), stowable in a large jacket or sweater pocket, has amazing dynamic range, and the image quality is to die for -- oh, and did I mention that it's ber small? Talk about a wolf in sheep's clothing... What's not to like? Battery life is the only shortcoming for me to comment upon, although one battery will last all day for me if I quickly frame and shoot the image, then shut the camera off (no chimping or excess viewfinder use). As it is, I always carry plenty of spare batteries (they hardly weigh anything), so this is a non-issue for me. Some people will complain about the cost, but a camera of this caliber has never been inexpensive, so that doesn't bother me either. The auto-focus isn't something I rely upon, as I'm into manual focus primes -- your mileage may vary. If you're into the 35mm focal length, this is your baby -- just buy a couple of extra batteries and you're good to go. 5 |

I loved my RX1R but the slow focusing was a bit annoying. The Rx1R II is much faster and is a great camera. The images and versatility of this camera are ideal for me. The new viewfinder is a welcome addition as is the tilting back display. People have been talking about short battery life, I just carry spares. The new case is also great because you do not have to remove it to gain access to the battery compartment. Overall I love this camera and highly recommend it. 5 |

This hood fits and works perfectly with the RX1R / RX1R-II, unsurprising since the FE 35mm 2.8 and the 35mm f2 on the RX1 are practically the same lens except for a stop difference in brightness. The hood is *slightly* tighter fitting on the RX1R but it doesnt feel like it will break anything. Give it a slightly harder twist to lock it on, and it looks like a natural part of the camera. This hood makes much more sense than the official absurdly priced rangefinder-style hood Sony sells for the RX1, as its much more compact, provides shade and superior protection for the lens, can take a filter behind the hood (49mm) and on the hood itself (40.5mm), and serves as a lens cap. (Sold separately, get a 40.5mm cap to cover the front of the hood when not in use. The FE 35mm 2.8 comes with both.) Oh also this is like 1/5 the price. Only downside? The text is wrong for the RX1 saying its a f2.8 instead of f2 but whatever. Get one if you have an RX1. Surprised Sony doesnt cross-sell it as an option for the RX1 natively. 5 |

I use this for my RX1R. Its barely larger than the battery itself, and you can use the charger as a battery holder its so compact...connect via USB and away you go.. perfect. 5 |

Working with several of various RX100s in recent years, replacing Nikons after decades of work as an artist and scholar worldwide, acquired the finer RX1R II professional after announced to be on the market by Sony after reading specs. Never looked back. Continually surprised by newfound qualities in color, resolution and other digitally captured features when fine printing into large scale (4x6'+) prints with the Epson 9900 professional printer in the studio for site-specific installations globally. Trained in painting and printmaking in formative university years, there are qualities realized here thanks to the RX1R II never experienced to any great degree in photography. Yet with hands-on visual potentials unfolding especially with color to contribute photographically in extraordinary ways beyond other mediums and media. Now acquired by museum collections internationally, the work to expand newer directions thanks to the remarkable digital camera system is hardly limited by the imagination. 5 |

I use this lens for portraits on my crop sensor D5000 body. I loved the look of a 50mm portrait on a full frame camera, so in order to get a similar focal distance on a crop sensor camera- the 35mm was the way to go and I'm so happy I decided to trade in my 50mm for this 35mm! The 35mm gives a little extra room then the 50mm does on a crop sensor. The bokeh is terrific, and the lens is sharp and fast!!!! The auto focus is definitely worth the extra money, I always use it, and you can still fine tune the focusing. the lens is terrific for children, I photograph a lot of them! I have been happy with this lenses performance both indoors and outdoors, I recently shot a birthday party/cake smash which was indoors, near evening so very little natural light and just the glow of the candles and the photos still came out great... all in all, I would absolutely reccomend this lens! 5 |

This is an excellent camera with great low-light capabilities. I shoot mostly video and this is much better in low-light than the GH5. My GH5 is the better hybrid camera for stills (IBIS, more MP, etc.), but the GH5S are better for video (low-light, time-code, etc.). Yes, I know that many people seem to be on the "we need a 35mm sensor" bandwagon, but that is nonsense. These produce excellent video and have advantages over the 35mm sensor size format. With some fast glass, these are fantastic. By the way, the GH5S (and GH5) autofocus during video is usable after you tweak your settings. It isn't great, but it is usable. 5 |

The 50mm 1.8 is amazing however it’s too zoomed in using a cropped sensor camera. This 35mm yongnuo works amazing, no complaints, aside from the usual autofocus. 5 |
