I'm very satisfied with the APC RBC#33 battery pack purchased from B&H. I had previously tried a less-powerful aftermarket Duracell unit from Batteries+Bulbs but ended up returning it after I found the actual OEM part for $20 cheaper at B&H AND the option to add a SquareTrade 3-year warranty for $9.99. I ordered 2 more as a result and brought new life back into my APC UPS units that safeguard my digital assets. 5 |

Leica Summicron-M 50mm F2 lens (c.1982) to a new Sony a7R3 body is a good combo for me. Sony body set to "Auto" and up and going right out of the box. An old Kodak +3 close-up (supplementary) lens is a cheap way to get higher magnification with the Summicron. 5 |

The A5+ are actually my 3rd purchase of Audioengine speakers. I previously owned 2 pairs of the A2's. The A5+ is the update to the A5. It features a few extras missing on the A5 including a remote control with an energy saving mode, and heat fins on the rear. I also added the S8 subwoofer for a 2.1 system connected to my TV. The cost was under $600 for the setup. Before commenting on the sound, I need to provide you with some background. I have been a high end audio junkie since the late 60's owning numerous speakers including Merlin, Magnepan, Apogee, Role Audio, Totem, Accoustat, TDL, etc... so you can say that I am not the typical consumer wowed by the name of Bose etc... Anyway, on to the sound. I first set up the speakers without the subwoofer hooking up the RCA leads to the A5+ main speaker and the mini plug to the Television output. The input for the television was a Fios cable box and Panasonic Blu Ray player both using HDMI. My first impression of the sound was extremely favorable. The bass from the speakers sounded as if I already had a sub attached and voices and instruments seemed to emanate from a very clean clear background. I then attached the S8 and after some careful adjustments I could barely notice the effects. That is until a sub 50Hz sound was produced by the source. Then it revealed itself with some nice tuneful polite bass. No boom at all. It just stepped to the plate whenever needed, never calling attention to itself unless absolutely necessary. In summary, for the price, these speakers are a steal. If I were a starving college student unable to afford the good stuff. Buy these speakers! Even if you have the money to buy something more expensive. Save your money and try these. They are that good. 5 |

I bought this to use with a 1DxMkII and 600mm f4. I was looking for a smoother solution than my Wimberly II Gimbal for moving aircraft and birds in flight, while using extremely-slow shutter speeds...like 1/25 and 1/15. I figured a video head would do the trick. Not knowing anything about them (I'm a studio photographer), I tried a bunch in the entry-level arena...none of them were 100% successful. I had slight jerkiness, inconsistent drag, backlash, grinding and vibration on anything under $500. (the Benro S8, was the best of what I tried...but still a bit lacking). After a fair amount of research, I decided on the BV10H (by the way, money or brand was not really an issue. I was thinking around $2.5k max, if a head had what I needed). One of my deal-breakers was having a 3/8" side accessory mount. Being able to run video along side a big lens shooting stills is one of my goals. So, I went with the BV10H. I gotta say, it's built like a tank, and is VERY, very smooth. I don't impress easily, but I'm truly impressed, especially for the price. I was reluctant, because the levels of drag were so few...but as it ends up, they're all that's needed. Even my camcorder with its 250x digital zoom is remarkably smooth. The lockup on the bowl is amazingly quick as well the grip is rubberized, so tightening is a snap (a few others I tried needed a tool to clamp down, with all that weight). The 3/8" side socket should be standard on any tripod head. Everything is simple, out of the box operation. Attach and level your camera...and you're loaded for bear. I would recommend this product 100% What are the CONS? Wish it had a light on the bubble level (like on the S8). This was fixed with aFrogLeggs tiny LED (about the size of a button) positioned just above the bubble. Other than that...the BV10H is good to go. 5 |
