Samson Sennheiser Me 4 Replacement

I bought the B3 as a replacement for my sennheiser ME-2 stock mic, because I do a lot of filming in noisy office environments with air conditioning and ventilation. I am so blown away at how well the B3 performs. It reduced the background noise significantly. In fact I bought a 2nd unit. So worth it.

I use it for the Sennheiser ME 64 and it cuts wind dramatically.

I replaced a Samson brand lavalier with this Sennheiser. The Sennheiser is much better built. The AA batteries last several times longer than the 9V batteries that the Samson required. The output of the Sennheiser is a bit lower than the Samson but this is easily corrected in camera settings (lav directly input to camera) or with the pre-amplifier settings when using multiple mics in studio. Overall, I'm pleased with the replacement.

I purchased the Samson Expedition Express for work as a tour guide in NYC. I'm working outdoors for the most part and this is plenty loud to get my voice across with a clear accurate tone above most NY noise. I will say that the mic that comes with the unit is slightly bass heavy so I recommend adding quite a bit more treble into the mix if using this Mic. That said, I use a Sennheiser ME2 Lav for my Mic. Note that this requires a plug in power to operate with this particular unit (as is the case with most PAs). I achieved this by purchasing the X-Vive Phantom power unit plus an Asian knock off (YPA A62P) of the Sennheiser MZA 900P (at less than a 1/3 of the price) which adjust phantom power to the lower voltage power necessary for operating a Sennheiser Lav. The sound is very clear and strong with this combination. It will feedback easily with this combination so you do have to watch your volume, but believe me in that it is plenty loud to achieve the desired volume level for outdoor group tours in NYC. If feedback is a concern the advantage of the mic that comes with this unit is that it is not as sensitive and thereby requires close contact with the mic (eating the mic) which basically eliminates feedback). I carry this PA in a mesh backpack which allows sound to travel straight through it. If it rains I use a waterproof cover over the backpack as this unit is not waterproof. I suppose that is the only downside if you are looking for one on this unit, but this is the norm. Out of curiosity I checked with Samson for the cost of battery replacement as this will be needed somewhere down the line. The cost is $17 and its user serviceable, so this is another plus for extended use into the future. Highly recommended.

I'm using this with a PA system by Samson which does not have phantom power to operate a Sennheiser ME2 lav. It works beautifully selecting the 12 volt option. I am also using this in comibnatinon with a Sennheiser SKP G4 transmitter with an Oktava MK-10. The unit works great and adds zero noise. Highly recommended.

I searched and narrowed down to the Rode NTG series (1,2,3) and the ME-66. My buddy said Sennheiser released this mic @ IBC 2012. Now, since it just came out at the time, I took a leap of faith from the word of mouth reviews like how warm it sounded compared to the ME-66 and bought it, not knowing what it would sound like. I'm glad to say this mic is amazing! The mic exceeded my expectations. Here are the benefits I found:- I can use this on a boompole and grab dedicated sound or it can be mounted onto a DSLR, which my team uses alot.- The price is really affordable considering it's a Sennheiser. The school provided ME-66 and were okay. I definitely can't afford a MKH-416 yet but working towards it. For now, the MKE 600 is a solid work horse shotgun mic for anything I need.- Battery power is a nice option to have.I use this mic with a Rycote Windshield #4, a Rode boompole (10ft), and record into a Roland R-44. I honestly think this is a worthwhile mic to get if you are starting out or looking for a solid shotgun mic. The mic is hotter than say the Rode NTG-2. The build is solid and I am very happy with it. Best investment I've made!

Nikon ME-1 does not offer a replacement windscreen but this is an excellent fit.

I have a Sennheiser ME-66 which is childs play compared to the Rode NTG-3 . The NTG-3 minimizes HVAC and room noise and sound incredible. It is as good as a lav if not better. Very rich sound. I would highly recommend this mic.

Using my Sennheiser ME 2-II lav, the audio is absolutely stellar. Almost no noise. It's a great pleasure to edit with audio of this quality. I hope the Sync E MkIIs ship soon!

I bought this item for use with a Sennheiser ME-66 short Mic, and a Sony PCM-D50, so I am not a professional by any stretch of the imagination, however I am into field recording and I do care about the quality of sound I can get within the constraints of my small budget. For me this has been a process of elimination, buying gear and realizing that its not going to make the grade and selling it or exchanging it along the way. This cable was one of those purchases as I needed a simple cable to go from the Mic to the recorder or an XLR to mini-jack, and and BH search came up with a few products and this was for about twenty bucks. It does exactly what I was looking for, and more then I was expecting as I had initially purchased it with an eye to finding out more about what it was I needed to get a mono mic to relay through both headphone channels for monitoring purposes, anyway this thing does that, and it cost me a whopping break-the-bank ...
