I do nature photography, primarily birds, and this lens with a 1.4x TC is THE lens for me. I'm using a D7000, which I also love, and I tried a couple of third party long zooms and my shots were overall dingy in appearance and still a bit soft. I read lots of reviews on B&H and reviews elsewhere by professional photographers and thought I'd try this 300. This lens is crazy sharp, and it seems to let more light in. I get bright, saturated shots where every feather and detail is captured. I don't know if it's the difference between Nikon and third party lens, or prime lens and zoom, but this lens is amazing. VR would be nice, but the other reviews are spot on--if I keep my shutter speeds above the focal length my shots are sharply in focus, often even in lower light. I use it on a monopod and haven't tried hand held yet in terms of focus. With the 1.4x TC AF is still fast, and it's a quiet lens. The tripod collar seems just fine to me. Stop thinking about it and buy this lens. You'll be glad you did. 5 |

After reading many reviews I bought the Sony 1.4 teleconverter . I'm using it with Sony 300 f2.8 and I don't see any real picture difference. Focus is fast and I have now more reach (420) Just keep in mind you loose one F stop . Very happy with my purchase and looking to get Sony FE 2x teleconverter in near future. 5 |

There are lots of detailed reviews about this lens saying the XF 16mm f/1.4 Lens is excellent, and I totally agree with them. Not particularly ideal as a portrait lens but great for wedding opportunities and street photographing moments the color is spectacular, sharpness is tack on, focus is great and the lens itself is not that heavy making it one of my favorite lens to carry with me most of the time. Definitely recommend it. 5 |

I've been a Canon 1.4 user for quite some time and after Zeiss appeared on the market and reading a couple of not very good reviews about it I quickly lost interest it. Well, last week my Canon AF started having issues and quite frankly I was not that impressed with it (it was an Ok lens and not a wow lens) I decided to explore other options. Thank goodness a guy on photo@ directed me to try out Zeiss. Plus after reading positive reviews here it was pretty much sealed. Got the lens today and after doing some testing I was really impressed with it. It is at least as sharp as Canon wide open but at smaller apertures IMO it clearly beats Canon. On top of it you get incredible colors. Canon is simply lifeless comparing to Zeiss. The build is exactly what a lens should be. And I especially like the manual focusing. Viewfinder is pretty useless and you will get a lot of out of focus images so I suggest using LiveView at 10x. 5 |

Bought this to shoot sports action, primarily soccer. Most reviews I read suggested going for the 400mm for the reach at the other end of the pitch. Thse same reviews also talked about the 300mm being more appropriate for other sports like volleyball and basketball. After some consideration I decided to go with the 300mm and pair it with my 1.4 TC to get the 400+ reach for soccer while keeping the flexibility of using the lens for other close-up action sports.I have been super impressed with the results. Pairing the 300 with the 1.4x TC has not degraded the photos in any way. Still crystal clear and sharp as a tack. The TC also has not impacted the ability to focus quickly. I am shooting at mostly 1/2000 shutter speed and I am getting so many money shots its not funny.I have also used the 300 by itself (no TC) for the same soccer action. Photos are still super sharp and the lens is super quick to focus. The lens is simply awesome. The lens is definintely a keeper and I highly recommend it for action photography. 5 |

I had heard very mixed reviews about this 1.4 converter but I really wanted more reach than the 40/150 F2.8 Pro zoom lens offered so I took a chance and purchased the MC-14. It's tiny, fits very securely and has given me excellent results so far. I hardly notice the extra length and weight it adds to the lens, body combination. The auto focus of the lens/converter may be a smidgeon slower than the lens body zone but it has in no way impacted the cameras ability to focus and lock on. Images are crisp, CA's are well controlled. The camera's IBIS works well with it. Is there a downside? When I decided to buy it it was $349.00, had watched for another sale like Olympus had prior which was$299.00. I wish that was the priceI could have been able to get it at. I would purchase this item again. 5 |

I only wish I had purchased this lens sooner...I love it. And the price really makes it within reach for many. I did a lot of research comparing this to the much more expensive 85 1.4 and while the 85 1.4 received stunning reviews I was happy to see this lens got great reviews as well and some preferred it over the 1.4 due to focus speed. I figured for the price difference I had to at least give it a try. The colors are stunning and I'm getting very crisp, sharp images. My other most commonly used lens is the 24-70 2.8L. I know you can't really compare a zoom to a prime but I now know what people mean when they talk about the advantages of primes. The light weight is really an advantage for me as well - my 24-70 is a lug. I'm just going to have to become more practiced at zooming with my feet - I'm not accustomed to being so far away from my subject! By the way I use a 40D and shoot mostly people. I also commonly use a Canon 50 1.4. 5 |

I have seen most of the reviews on YouTube and I have heard the good, bad, and the ugly of this Canon 85MM 1.4 L lens, I was going to wait for sometime for a sale to come by from B&H photo, but the itch in my brain keeps telling me go for it, so then I did with the 4TB hard driver special. Installed it on my Canon 5D mark IV set the lens to f1.4 iso to 100 and took some photos. Then moved the F stops 2.8, 4 and so on. This lens blew my mind away at F1.4 and the rest of the f-stops, but F1.4 is the king for this lens. On bright afternoons you will have have to use some ND filters to maintain 1.4 and I choose the NISI Pro Filter system from B&H Photo. All I can say to you photographers if you’re having second thoughts for this canon 85MM 1.4 L don’t. Because it’ll blow your mind away and I believe on any canon camera system. Well built with the ending I say WOW and A GREAT LENS from CANON. 5 |
