Samsung 5K Monitor Vs Apple Studio Display

I switched to a Mac Studio recently after spending the last 10 years editing video on iMac, and this monitor holds up incredibly well. No, it is not a 5K Retina display. However, it is about $1,000 less expensive than an Apple Display, and after using it for two weeks, I'm not noticing any major differences. The color and the resolution are high quality and very suitable for editing 4K video. This monitor also connects directly to the Mac Studio through a USB-C, and it started right up the first time. (I had read reviews that firmware needed to be updated on the monitor to use the USB-C connection, but I didn't not experience this). The 31.5 display is also a nice upgrade over the 27 iMac - that extra bit of real estate is always welcome. It takes up about the same amount of space on my desk as the iMac did. The matte screen is also great. The Retina Displays were too glossy with too many reflections, whereas this monitor minimizes and soften reflections. I'm very happy with this purchase, and if you're looking for a cost-effective alternative to an Apple Display, I would recommend the Dell Ultrasharp 31.5 4K HDR Monitor.

I like and trust Apple Displays for their beautiful image and color accuracy. I retouch photographs and color grade videos and films. The Apple monitor is accurate and bright with great resolution. It's a good size and small footprint on my desk. I purchased it with the new Mac Studio. It works well with the new computer. I purchased the Apple 27 Studio display with just the tilt option and it works fine. It sits nicely above the Mac Studio computer. The stand doesn't take up much desk space. There is no power switch for the monitor. As soon as you turn on the computer it is on and ready for viewing. I also like that there is no sleep light to keep flashing when the monitor is off or sleeping. The bezel around the viewable screen is a reasonable size and smaller than my other LG monitor. The Apple Display is easy to setup. Just plug it in and plug in the included Thunderbolt cable to the computer. Both cables are a soft and flexible black cable. I think the price is reasonable for the Apple Studio Display. My first Apple Display was the HD 24 version and cost around $1899 to $2199. Many years later the 5K 27 version is less money than that. I think that's a good deal. And much more affordable than the 32 XDR 6K monitor. I'm very pleased with the Apple Studio Display, as it just works well and looks great.

For years I have searched for a glossy 4k/5k IPS monitor comparable to Apple displays the one in the iMac (and now the Studio display). The search is over. The Alogic Clarity is awesome, and even looks like an Apple product. Not having that matte coating on the screen makes the colors pop with crisp text, much better than my matte LG 32 IPS monitors. I use the monitors for work (coding & engineering work), photo editing, watching movies, and general computer use. The monitor gets plenty bright at 400 nits (non-hdr) and 600 (hdr). It's only 60Hz and I don't game so I can't comment how it is for that purpose. One thing to note, I use this with a Mac Studio. The colors look great using whatever connection type I use. However, when connected via the thunderbolt 3 out to display port 1.4 in, the "Use as" scaling options for text are available, whereas if using the usb-c connection that is not the case (though it still allows for using different resolutions). If you are familiar with glossy displays, then yes, there are reflections with this monitor. And this may not be the best monitor in a room full of windows. But if used away from windows it's not an issue. To me, the benefit of having a clearer, sharper picture, more vibrant colors, and better perceived blacks, far outweighs the negatives. My only complaint is that it only comes in a 27 size. My god if this thing only came in a 32 size.

This is my 1st BenQ monitor (full disclosure). Was not sure if this BenQ would live up to the hype but I have been pleased so far. Buying this exact monitor again after B&H's Rosh Hashana Holiday Closing. Using with 10-core CPU/ 32-core GPU Mac Studio and love the combination. Speakers are superior to the built-in Mac Studio speakers. Initially considered it over the Apple Studio Display due to price (over 50% less) and bang for buck features. This monitor does not have web cam like Apple Studio Display but built in mic has strong clarity and fidelity. I have also used with PS5 in 120Hz mode (for compatible games) and it delivered. PVP FPS feel very responsive, a noticeable improvement and more submersed when compared to 60Hz mode. I can spend more time going into all features but may not do this monitor justice. See images of LED back-side enhancements (cool ambience) . Provided photos of screen to show level of glare and comparison between multiple applications. Screen brightness isn't the best compared to others but works for my residential office setup; no complaints with blinds open and ceiling fan light on. Hope this was helpful

My new 2020 Apple 27" iMac with Retina 5K Display is just perfect. I couldn't be happier. As a graphic designer the iMac display renders my images beautifully. And did I mention the speed when working in Photoshop? Off the charts. I bought the extended keyboard. The Magic Mouse works well too. Had to purchase an external hard drive and Apple USB SuperDrive. I'll wait on the new M1 chip version for now. Thanks B&H.

Yeah, yeah ... $5K for a monitor with no stand. We've all heard it. Well, get over it. If you want a decent monitor with all the bells and whistles (a swivel stand, tons of ports, a webcam, speakers, etc), there are plenty of other options out there for you at a fifth of the cost. I've been using the LG 4K monitor for a few years now and decided to upgrade to the newer 5K version. At $1,200 or so, that thing was not inexpensive, but it sure was disappointing. As many others have experienced, out of the box it had a very red / yellow tint to it that was nearly impossible to correct. After returning it, I elected to step up to the Apple Display and all I can say is that it is absolutely amazing. All the rumors are true - slight vignetting due to its size and proximity to your face on your desk; no added features like exterior controls, webcam, speakers, tons of misc ports; and it won't easily work with your PC ... but, the image is stunning and amazing. I use it for videography editing work and it is unreal. Mind blowing good. I do not regret the purchase whatsoever. Apple screams quality and this monitor does not disappoint. I'd have to say that a good portion of the high cost had to go into the packaging like all Apple products. No joke, the box weighs as much as or more than the monitor itself. A waste? Maybe to some. But for me ... given that this was shipped across the country from B&H, I appreciate legitimate packaging as we all know how terrible shipping companies can be. The monitor arrived in perfect condition and I'll be using the legitimate box for future moves and relocations. This is not a display that you wrap in a blanket and throw in the back of your car. Bottom line ... it you have the money, it's the best prosumer display on the market.

I went from a 27inch Retina 5K display so I was worried about the clarity on this monitor. When it arrived I was pleasantly surprised with how clear everything was and now I have extra room to multi task. I love it!

Look no further! I've searched tirelessly trying to find the best monitor to pair with my MacBook Pro M1. I'm a videographer and photographer and bought this monitor to have better color accuracy and help with video editing instead of working off a MacBook. After using the monitor for a month these are my opinions: Pros: - Excellent Clarity & Color (M-book profile is very comparable to MacBook color) -Screen size is very useful, especially for a video editor with its 16:9 ratio - Comparable resolution to previous iMac 5K Retina display. You can only see pixels if you're extremely close to the screen - Easy setup and compatible with Apple devices - Delivered with Thunderbolt 3 cable Cons: - Base plate is quite large and deceiving in pictures. I would recommend buying a separate VESA monitor stand to cut down on desk clutter - Speakers are average - Plugging in cables (thunderbolt, usb, display ports) is quite difficult. Not user friendly. Overall, very satisfied with this purchase instead of buying a 5K monitor.

After looking around for a monitor upgrade for my Mac with Thunderbolt 3, I found the LG on B&H at a great price. It by far the best monitor I have had. The 5K display look as sharp as any I have found and an added bonus is the PBP feature so I can have two screens displayed at the same time. Talk about multitasking, I may wind up with split personality disorder. Just kidding.   Iit has HDMI and display port inputs it can handle any CPU.
