Got the 2TB Samsung 980 Pro with heatsink last month and works great in my PlayStation 5

I am using it with a Samsung 980 PRO 2TB inside and so far no problems. I have not tested its speed yet. I bought it because I did not want, and don't want yet, to install the M.2 SSD inside my laptop - which has room for a 2nd SSD, since the laptop is brand new.

Samsung 2TB 980 PRO PCIe 4.0 x4 M.2 Internal SSD with Heatsink Windows 11 I've installed this in an ASUS ROG Maximus XI Hero (Wi-Fi) Z390 Gaming Motherboard as the system drive. It runs 10 to 15 degrees C. cooler than the Samsung 970 EVO Plus M.2 SSD that it replaced because of bad block and LBA errors. The drive installed and functions great. You can't use the Asus motherboard heatsink with this, so the screw will be too long. I punched the small silver insert out of the old heatsink and used it over the screw as a spacer and tightened gently. Samsung Magician initially didn't fully function with this drive, but after 3 or 4 updates one after the other, (Version 7.0.1.630) the drive is fully recognized.

I have found Samsung to simply be the best when it comes to SSD drives. The 980 PRO is no exception. I am very pleased.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Just upgraded to the Samsung 980 PRO PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD (1TB), and it's a game-changer! Here’s a quick review of my experience: #### Blazing Fast Performance This SSD is insanely fast! With sequential read speeds up to 7,000 MB/s and write speeds up to 5,000 MB/s, it’s perfect for gaming, video editing, and any data-intensive tasks. Load times are practically non-existent. #### Reliability & Endurance The build quality is top-notch. Samsung has included advanced thermal control with a nickel coating and heat spreader to keep things cool. Plus, it comes with a 5-year limited warranty, which is pretty reassuring. #### Easy Compatibility It fits into most desktops and laptops with an M.2 slot, and while you’ll get the best performance with PCIe 4.0, it’s backward compatible with PCIe 3.0 systems too. #### Handy Software Samsung’s Magician software is a nice bonus. It helps you manage firmware updates, run performance benchmarks, and keep an eye on the SSD’s health. #### Pros: - Lightning-fast read and write speeds - Great thermal management - Reliable with a 5-year warranty - Useful management software #### Cons: - A bit pricey - Need PCIe 4.0 for maximum speed ### Bottom Line If you’re looking for top-tier performance and reliability, the Samsung 980 PRO is worth every penny. It’s a solid investment for gamers, content creators, or anyone needing a high-performance storage solution.

The Samsung 980 1TB SSD was an upgrade to my Dell XPS laptop OEM SSD. The new Samsung SSD provided twice the storage with speed gains over 10X. Cloning, replacement and startup were easy using the included Magician App. One of the easiest upgrades I've ever performed!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have to admit I was a little skeptical with the hypes and must haves of getting an external memory for my PS5. Much to my surprise, the Samsung 990 PRO w/Heatsink PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD did not disappoint and exceeded my expectations in every way. I actually started to run out of memory on my console due to the next generation games that requires enormous amount of available hard drive space. The Samsung 990 PRO w/Heatsink PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD was easy to install and I was online gaming again within 5 minutes. I have actually moved 90% of saved data from the console to the Samsung Samsung 990 PRO. It was seamless and I haven’t notice any degradation to the performance while playing. I would get the 2TB version if it was available but the 1TB is offer me much needed additional capacity without having to delete game data to save hard-drive space. It’s a must have if you’re looking to expand your memory to the fullest.

Decked the OWC 8M2 out with 8 Samsung 980 Pro SSDs for best case testing. Never got close to the expected throughput. Only 10K sequential on Crystal Benchmark. Card worked with Gigabyte AMD X570 motherboard but would not boot with MSI Intel 670X. Clearly OWC has compatibility issues. During the first overnight burn-in test, the card completely failed. No longer warm to the touch so must be power issue. Since B&H dropped ship from a 3rd party, I'm forced to wait until the 3rd party issues their own RMA. It's now been over a week and no sign of the RMA despite emails, chat, and phone calls. I'm running back to Amazon.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I'm a bit of a snob when it comes to my PC gaming rig. Whenever upgrades are available, I have to be an early adopter. Sometimes it's not worth it, but the Samsung 990 Pro was definitely worth it. I'm upgrading from a 980 Pro and the difference in load times is absolutely noticeable. Not to mention my 980 Pro was a 500gb and the 990 Pro is 1tb, so in addition to increasing speed, I doubled storage space. When I say this drive is fast, I mean it's FAST. I will definitely be purchasing the 2tb 990 Pro for my gaming console ASAP. Samsung is absolutely on top of the SSD game right now.
