Samsung 990 Evo Vs 980 Pro

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I'm a bit of a snob when it comes to my PC gaming rig. Whenever upgrades are available, I have to be an early adopter. Sometimes it's not worth it, but the Samsung 990 Pro was definitely worth it. I'm upgrading from a 980 Pro and the difference in load times is absolutely noticeable. Not to mention my 980 Pro was a 500gb and the 990 Pro is 1tb, so in addition to increasing speed, I doubled storage space. When I say this drive is fast, I mean it's FAST. I will definitely be purchasing the 2tb 990 Pro for my gaming console ASAP. Samsung is absolutely on top of the SSD game right now.

i bought 970 evo plus 1tb ssd a month ago nearly im very impressed with its performance its speed is as advetised even a bit more (read/write) its my second samsung ssd i use one as boot drive(980 pro 500 gb) but my pc is also decent enough (sadly not pcie 4 but still ok ish) specs 9700kf 32 gb ram 500gb samsung 980 pro 500 gb 1tb 970 evo plus 1tb motherboard asus prime z390 m plus (pcie 3 sadly but still very fast for me) overall samsung is great brand i use samsung phones for years i never had problems with any samsung product .even my old pc ram is samsung 2gb (been using it for over 10 years ) samsung is very good

Nicely done on the PRO VS EVO. The PRO actually does have a full 1TB available, VS the EVO's 960GB after formatting.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought the 980 pro before the 990 pro and had to put four 2 TB into my pc and replace all my other m.2 drives, and they are lightning fast, I get a few more FPS on my games and loading takes no time at all on any game I have installed on the drive. I would 100% recommend this drive to others looking. Just wish I knew the 4TB drives were coming out before I purchased the 2TB drives.

I have a Samsung 1tb 970 EVO Plus as a boot drive, OS and general purpose applications. I also have a Samsung 500gb 980 nvme as a games drive, but was quickly running out of diskspace. I decided to buy another Samsung 1tb 970 EVO Plus. It was an easy swap on the motherboard, but the performance is definitely a step up from the 980. All my games load just that much quicker than it did before. I know the specs are almost identical, but the 970 EVO Plus is definitely faster. I think pricewise, I paid the same for the older, better performing and larger capacity Samsung 970 EVO Plus as I did for the lower capacity and less performing Samsung 980 (which my wife got as an upgrade from a mechanical drive :-) ) Win, win. Highly recommended.

I went from a 970 evo to this 980 pro... and wow programs and files load noticeably faster. The rest of my system is very high end for editing, so more normal computers may not see as large of an upgrade, but I am very happy with the purchase.

Works and much faster than Samsung 990 Pro. Not sure how reliable long term.

This 970 EVO Plus model has the read/write speed, powerful multicore controller chip, the DRAM cache, and the TLC NAND you want for endurance. You have to step up to the 980 EVO Pro to have better specs. If you are asking yourself why this model is more expensive that the newer 980 EVO, it is because you only get the old features of the 970 EVO on the 980 EVO Pro.
