I'm new to recording for AM radio, but I know what I want - a clean recording, one that can be cranked up without annoying distortion, and procedures that are easy to understand and do. It's all in the RODE USB podcaster. In the past three months, I've tried SM58s, Shure SM63LB (mic for television interviewing), and several other mics that I plugged into my laptop 1/8 port - and they all made somewhat degradable recordings. The RODE USB connection means that the mic goes directly into my computer USB port - like it was meant to in the first place - and it goes directly into my Audacity software - BOOM - clean and bright. I don't want headaches with complicated hookups for my computer. I have a Windows 7 laptop, and all I did was stick the USB wire into the computer. Fantastic. Twenty seconds later a message popped up - Successfully installed. I went to my software and hit the record button, and INSTANTLY I was recording. What a gem. 5 |

I have used this same product for last eight years. I leave the mic attached to pulpit. Use with a limiter compressor so volume does not change as the speaker get closer or farther from mic while talking. This shure model is a rugged mic and should last for years and years. 5 |

This mic makes a huge difference in audio quality over the built-in mic in my laptop or headphones. When you're working from home, it relaly helps to have a quality mic which makes your voice more understandable. It's very reasonably priced for what it does, and is true plug and play - no drivers are software needed. 5 |
