[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Samsung 980 Pro is amazingly fast and is the future of hard drive storage. My read/write speeds were very close to advertised speeds of 6900/5000 MB/s. It runs off the newer PCIe 4 technology. You will need a motherboard & processor that has PCIe 4 to get advertised speeds. My motherboard is a GIGABYTE X570 AORUS Elite Wi-Fi with AMD Ryzen 5 3600 processor. If you do not have PCIe 4 it is backwards compatible to PCIe 3, but expect half the read/write speeds. The 980 Pro is great for gaming because loading times for a game is nonexistent. This SSD has a M.2 2280 form factor which is the size of a piece of gum. The small size is perfect for Mini-ITX builds. It also doesn't produce much heat so a heatshield is not necessary. The solder points were clean and strong. It feels durable. Samsung provides a 5 year warranty. Overall I am very happy with Samsung 980 Pro and I highly recommend it. 5 |

I purchased two of the 1TB Samsung 980 Pro and installed them on a new Asus motherboard that supports PCIe 4.0. The installed easily and were instantly recognized. No muss, no fuss. The computer boots very quickly and software on that drive is instantly loaded! 5 |

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My wife installed the Samsung 980 Pro in her gaming computer. It dramatically reduced game loading times. You do need a PCIE 4 computer system to take advantage of these speeds. The card itself is the size of a piece of candy and disappears into the motherboard. It spreads and dissipates heat evenly. According to her motherboard temp sensors it stays under 30 C even under load. Very impressed! 5 |

samsung is known for their ssd's and if you don't have an m.2 slot on your motherboard, then you definitely need to pick one up. an ssd is basically essential for all computer builds now. the 860 pro uses v-nand which is a lot faster under heavier loads compared to qlc, so if you are torn between the evo or the pro just get the pro. if you are working with large files or many small files this drive's speeds are unreal. windows boots in literal seconds, and large 1440p and 4k videos are copied over in seconds. samsung drives are best in class, and you should not settle for any less. 5 |

the first samsung m.2 i bought i used the heatsink gigabyte suppied with their motherboard - it ran 10 degrees hotter with than without! i've never used a heatsink since and i run games and editing software so they're ran pretty hard. 5 |

I really like this card, but check your motherboard for bifurcation support and # of additional M.2 slots allowed at the ASUS site. Memory needs to support the PCIe Interface i.e. (Samsung 1TB 970 EVO Plus). For my ASUS motherboard, this card needed to be in the first 16X slot. My graphics card was moved to the third PCI slot. I bought two Samsung 970 EVO Plus SSD, and moved my M2-2 SSD card to this board but needed to leave the 2nd M.2 slot open on this card. BIOS setting instructions from ASUS were not clear at all. I now have 5 non-raid SSD cards and I am very happy. The card also supports RAID if INTEL M.2 SSDs are used. Research was required to find the proper setup because the included documentation was weak. 5 |

This SSD is fast and easy to install to either a laptop or a compatible desktop motherboard. I have it installed in my Dell Precision 7550 laptop, to replace the older 1TB SSD that was there. Just clone your existing (OS) SSD to this new WD_BLACK SN850X, then update BIOS settings accordingly and you are good to go. 5 |
