Samsung Laptop System Restore Partition

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It is indeed a great high speed SSD with affordable price, however I would suggest to Samsung to make their SSD a little over the listed data size as I bought 2 TB I only got 1.8 TB so I lost 200 GB! Also if Samsung can improve their cloning software (Data Migration/Magician) as in my case it was not able to clone my SSD 100% and was missing on health partition and OEM/Recovery partition

My laptop had a 2TB Samsung EVO 970 plus system drive and I bought this WD black to put in a USB enclosure. But before I did, I ran Crystal Disk Mark on the Samsung, cloned the system to this drive and ran it again on this drive. My laptop is only PCI 3 so I wasn't expecting the stated performance, and no surprise it didn't make those numbers. But it did perform a little better than the Samsung and ran a bit cooler also. So I kept this WD black as the system drive and wiped the Samsung and put that one in the USB enclosure. Now it's a few weeks later and so far so good.

I purchased a gaming laptop that only had a 500GB SSD and I needed more space so I looked at what B&H had to offer. I knew Samsung made great storage devices and SSD's so I purchased this and it came with a download of Samsung Magician which which gives you the results of how your SSD is performing. I installed it no problem (do not format it) and the system recognized it and now I have a 1 1/2 TB in my system. Highly recommended.

I no longer carry a laptop when I travel. Just an iPad and an external SSD drive. I can backup my images, and do quick Lightroom edits, more for fun and out of curiosity than final processing--I do that when I return home. I had been using a Samsung T7 drive as my hard drive. Sometimes the iPad didn't see it; the transfer speed was painfully slow--like 2 hours for a 128 GB SanDisk card. I stopped by B & H while in NYC. The salesperson advised replacing the Samsung drive with the SanDisk one. All problems solved. Much faster transfer rate. The drive is recognized consistently by the iPad. Now the question is whether I can improve my system further by upgrading to the latest iPads with the M2 chip. As an aside, the system would be much better if Apple improved its file manager program.

I have two computers to back up and I wanted space to do a system image and a backup of specific files. That way I could restore the whole system if the hard drive went bad, or I could just restore a specific file if the file went bad. This hard drive has the space to do that for both of my computers. And the cost is the lowest anywhere. The drive is small and fits perfectly in my safe. Very happy. Thank you.

I use the drive to back up my laptop and I use another partition to archive all my photos. It isn't USB 3.0 but it is plenty fast when transferring data. I haven't used it for very long but so far so good. I like that is doesnt come preloaded with WD software.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Samsung’s 980 Pro is a PCIe 4 M.2 NVMe SSD. This is a high-end product; this is the fastest flash-based SSD I can purchase. From specification, the sequential read and write speed are 6900 Mbps / 5000 Mpbs. Though this quoted performance from Samsung is very exciting,, you will need a system which has PCIe 4 to reach this number. The installation is simple; you will a motherboard or laptop with a capable NVMe supported M.2 slot. You can need to remove laptop back cover; you will need to be careful about that. Samsung has also highlighted Intelligent TurboWrite 2.0 technology which delivers 5 times the buffer size. That means under large workload will not decline the performance. This SSD is also built-in advanced thermal control solutions allow for the drive to perform well at cool temperatures. It is important for me, and I plan to use this SSD to build my AI training server system. Overall, this SSD is fastest SSD I can find from the market, and it has all-new Elpis controller, backwards-compatibility with PCIe 3.0, and NVMe 1.3 support. It is target for gaming user, but, it is also good for my AI training server.

I had no problems (using MiniTool Partition Wizard) to transfer my system and data from a smaller, slower SSD in my laptop. Now I have more space and improved performance. I've used SanDisk before and to me it's a trusted brand.
