Requests would be volume control on the headphones and better waterproofing. 5 |

Volume control would be nice to have on headphones 5 |

If you need a volume control for your unbalanced line level signal this is the way to go. 5 |

I don't understand how to control the volume level on these, otherwise they are great. 5 |

This works very well to control the volume individually for each of up to 4 separate pairs of headphones all being fed from the same source. 5 |

This direct input box solved a problem I had with making recordings from consumer audio sources with my Tascam DR-40 recorder. The DR-40 is designed for the professional-spec line input level of +4 dBu, which is about 12 dB higher than consumer-spec playback devices. I had to crank the input volume control all the way up but the audio levels were still falling short. I had read that the control range of the DR-40 is broader for the microphone input option vs the line setting. But I'd need to drop the line output of the player to mic levels. Running the player output into the 1/4 TS ports on the Pyle box, I got mic level I needed coming out of the Pyle's XLR ports. I used short XLR cable to patch over to the DR-40 and everything worked out. Now the correct input volume control setting ends up being in the middle of the range instead of at the top, so I can now get a perfect recording level with ease. There is no added noise or distortion that I can hear. With volume levels set all the way high there is no hum audible at all, just a very faint white noise hiss, the same you would get with shorted inputs. The price was the wonderful surprise. Other units from other manufacturers ranged from $20 to $180 for just a single channel. I had wondered if Pyle cut some corners but as far as I can tell the PDC22 has no problems at all. This product seems to be rugged enough for live music tours. The metal case is stout and it has two drilled mounting flanges. The only concession to low cost is that it's a very simple metal case with minimal attention to being made touch-friendly. It's hard and the corners and edges are crisp sheet metal folds. Don't buy it for looks, buy it for the sound and for the connection options it gives you. The instruction sheet is clearly written for bass players. When they say the output is meant for mixing boards, it also means it's at microphone drive level. 5 |

The original unit had a problem with an overly sensitive record button which would kick the unit out of the record mode. A replacement unit arrived form B&H in about 4 days and works very well in every way. The basic design of the record feature relies on an Automatic Gain Control to maintain a proper recording level. This accounts for many of the published reviews that state the recorded sound is distorted and has a loss of dynamic range. This is a normal result of feeding a high level signal to the AGC controlled unit. Since there is no record volume control I reduced the input volume from the source until there was good modulation (fluctuation) of the recording indicator. This greatly improved the total recording experience with no distortion, added noise level, or loss of dynamic range. The nice feature of this approach is the AGC system is on standby in a soft compression mode to handle any instantaneous volume peaks. To make a modification to the unit adding an input level control I gained approval from the Manufactures Technician Support Department. The modification involved adding a 100K stereo audio taper control in the input circuit. I'm very pleased with this unit! 5 |

If you're looking for something to increase volume from your source you will need to keep looking. This is a passive volume control which can lower the inputed volume level but not raise it. This has a variety of uses, I purchased it for a digital audio recorder that has a limited volume control range, this added the flexibility that I needed to keep my recordings in the range I needed at a reasonable price. 5 |

The microphone itself is pretty good for voicelines, just talking to your friends and almost everything. I would say it is good for singing as well. I found that using it to a computer trough USB requires unplugging and plugging the USB cable back in the PC port every single time you start the computer, otherwise the microphone gets overloaded and makes a terrible sound. I don't know if this is happening only to me since the motherboard of my computer is a little bit old. But I'm considering upgrading to XLR since it will sound much better. The microphone has 2 buttons on the bottom of it for setting the headphones volume level and they work even with the headphones plugged in the computer instead. When you press one of the buttons you get a small overlay on the top left corner of the desktop with the volume level and if you are listening to music, for example on youtube, it allows you to pause the music and also skip the song to the next one if you are listening to it in a playlist. If you are ordering this microphone from Europe though consider that you will pay much, much more than $50. It cost me around $105 dollars to import it in my country with all the transport, VAT and commission taxes trough DHL. 5 |

I detect no loss of volume or quality when I use 3 headphones. I have occasionally used 5 also and had no problems with audio level or quality as well. This is such a nice device that often, my clients are as much or more interested in this device than in the app I am demoing. 5 |
