my samsung 970 evo plus 500gb nvme m.2 is no doubt the best ssd! i've used mine since shortly after it first came out and i've used/use others as well. my 970 still scores top speeds on tests where as other ssds i use tend to get worn out and slow down over time. i ran smartctl yesterday and my 970 has 51 tb written and still scores 2,900-3,200 reads/writes when tested. i believe it will live up to the 300tbw lifespan that the 500gb has. sure is good nowadays to be able to trust that something works because many are a let down but not samsung! excellent ssds! highly recommend!!

Samsung 2TB 980 PRO PCIe 4.0 x4 M.2 Internal SSD with Heatsink Windows 11 I've installed this in an ASUS ROG Maximus XI Hero (Wi-Fi) Z390 Gaming Motherboard as the system drive. It runs 10 to 15 degrees C. cooler than the Samsung 970 EVO Plus M.2 SSD that it replaced because of bad block and LBA errors. The drive installed and functions great. You can't use the Asus motherboard heatsink with this, so the screw will be too long. I punched the small silver insert out of the old heatsink and used it over the screw as a spacer and tightened gently. Samsung Magician initially didn't fully function with this drive, but after 3 or 4 updates one after the other, (Version 7.0.1.630) the drive is fully recognized.

Recently purchased another brand of Gen 4 m.2 drive and quickly returned them and purchased the Samsung 2TB 970 evo. It continues to out perform newer generation in both reads and writes.

Been a user of various Samsung Pro SSD's for a number of years, now, and this one is the biggest one yet. Plugged into our laptop, along with a 512GB M.2 Samsung Pro boot drive, it works flawlessly. So far, all of the half-dozen or so Samsung SSD's we've installed are still providing speedy, good performance. Coupled with Samsung's Magician software, we can see how the drive performance is holding up over time, and stay on top of any serious drive issues that arise (so far, that number is zero!). If you need a good sized, fast, and small M.2 drive, this one is a keeper, and highly recommended! The only regret I have would be getting the even larger 1TB size as you'll want to put as many of your frequently used games and programs on this drive to make them run as fast as possible!  500 GB is enough to use as a system drive, I would probably say that the 250 GB size is a little too small these days to be practical.  With a 5-year warranty and a reputation to stand behind quality products, I have full confidence also in the reliability of the Samsung 980 Pro over time.

I cloned my 500mg SSD boot drive to this 1tb m.2 drive with Samsung cloning software. All went smoothly and now everything loads much faster. A very worthwhile upgrade.
