Samsung Solid State Drive 840 Evo Software

I used this product to mount Samsung 840 EVO Solid state Disk in a HP Envy desktop. Product is solid, comes with needed screws and installs easily. You can not beat the cost either.

What’s not to like when it comes to Samsung SSD’s? I have quite a few, including the 860 EVO, older 840’s and 850’s EVOs and PROs that seem to last forever, as well as the newer NVMe 960 and 970 drives which are easily the fastest drives on the market. Samsung drives always hit or beat the rated speeds in both the excellent Samsung Magician software and in Crystal DiskMark. Samsung’s free data migration/cloning software is second to none as it works every time, and I even use it to keep current boot drive backups using older Samsung drives. If I could save a few dollars on some other brand, I’d still buy the Samsung because of the level of confidence and benefits of owning them vs. other brands.

Installed it as C:\ OS drive - replaced 840 EVO - met specs right out of the box - now, about a week later, it is showing the fastest add most consistent ATTO scores I seen on any SSD.

Solid state drive worth it.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I can't figure out why I was opposed to ordering my new computer with a Solid State Drive instead of a HDD. Perhaps I was leery of the technology. I since replaced the HDD with the Samsung 860 Pro Solid State Drive. Before it to several minutes for the system to boot, now it is almost instantaneous. The overall performance of my system has increased 100 fold. Kudos to Samsung for their continuously innovative products. They made me a believer.

I installed the Samsung 250GB Solid State Drive in my Lenovo desk-top computer. I moved Windows and all my application software to the solid state drive and all of my personal files to the internal disc drive. The disc drive is backed by an external disc drive. The resulting system is much faster. The installation went very smooth, although I had the entire system backed up on an external disk drive incase anything went wrong.

We upgraded the C disks on two Win 7 PRO SP1 64-bit machines: the current C disks were Samsung 840 PRO 256GM SSDs; the new C disks were the 1TB versions of the PRO 260 line. The transition was really easy using the Samsung Data Migration software from their web site. We also used an inexpensive disk caddy while that software was running. The machines have been up for a week or so with the new C disks and we have experienced no problems, same as with the 840's we replaced. The price drop for this technology made the updates very inviting. Note, you can get Samsung EVO SSD's for a lot less. They are a quality product too but the warranty period is shorter.

I have 3 other Samsung SSDs, an 830 256GB, an 840 250GB and an 840 Pro 256GB. The Samsung SSD keep getting better and better and faster and faster. I have had no problems with any of them. The 850 Pro came with the latest version of Samsung Magician (4.5). I do not use the Samsung Data Migration software, I use the Seagate free version of Acronis that works as long as you have any Seagate HD attached to the system. Even a novice can install a Samsung SSD with the Magician software. I have always found the Samsung SSD tech support people to be very helpful.
